When I have the heat or A/C on in my dually it seems to make a randon thumping sound every 30-60 seconds..seems to be near the center of the dash under the windshield...driving me crazy!! Does not happen when heat-A/C is off. Anyone else experience this?..or is it time for another trip to the stealer! Thanks

Albert

x2 All of my HDs have done it, nothing to worry about. It is, or can be kind of annoying though.

X3. I drive an 06 gasser at work. It has the same noises. Just turn up the radio. It will go away! :D:D

Probably one of the doors moving inside the HVAC ducting.

It's the damper actuator continually attempting to close the damper.

You may want to ask the dealer if there is a TSB on the problem. It could be something faulty in the HVAC control head.

Does it happen on regular heat/AC or just on certain settings? Maybe just on Recirc?

mine only does it on defrost

That would make sense...as the diverter door has to move when you select defrost.

But if its clunking intermittently, then I'd think that was either a sealing problem with the door, a bad actuator or a bad head unit sending stray signals out.
