: Injector back order turnaround??
big_jon00 12-13-2004, 03:40 PM I know another injector post…
I was just wondering what the turn around is for factory injectors now. I took my truck in this being the fourth week of waiting not even being able to drive it. I noticed the extensive white smoke, and the oil was getting dirty quicker than normal, a couple days after the dealer ordered the injectors I regularly checking my oil and well it was about half a quart high, within a 1000 miles of last oil change and the price of synthetic oil I am not going to be changing oil every 1000 miles. I have asked for a loaner truck and well they don’t have any..
According to the service manager I am just suppose to change the oil but I don’t feel like running diesel fuel through my bearings. I am just sick of making payments and not being able to drive the truck. This makes it really hard to go snowmobile and pull trailers or anything I use my truck for. I am just glad I didn’t get a plow on it yet.. With service like this, if or when I get the new injectors I might be stopping at the local Dodge dealer on the way home. Do I have any options, this is not the kind of service you would expect on a $40,000+ truck… with only 35,000 miles!!
Thanks, Jon
Max Payne 12-13-2004, 03:57 PM Last I checked we had 32 injectors in stock... all of us Duramax driving employees ordered a set by our VIN# so we would have some in stock and keep our rental dollars down for warranty. Now it has been 4 weeks since my last injector job...
Duramax Dually 12-13-2004, 04:13 PM Big Jon,
I am not sure what the wait would be on yours. I believe your campaign is very different and they are replacing only the ones that were found to be defective. Only 01's and select '02's have this Galatic back order. Mine took 5 weeks to the day. Yours should be a straight replacement with plenty of parts dept having them. Is yours special and you are getting the revised units? I see you have a '03.
ratlover 12-13-2004, 04:54 PM I drove my truck to Eric(dmaxallitech) and had it on the road in a few days. Grand rapids MI.
big_jon00 12-13-2004, 06:38 PM He told me they were going to replace all 8 so I don't know I am getting sick of the waite..
Thanks,
Jon

With those mods be happy they didn't flag you.
Kennedy 12-13-2004, 06:48 PM Is it at Burtness in Orfordville? If not, that is where I'd suggest taking it.
srode 12-13-2004, 07:51 PM Mine was diagnosed today with injectors (dropped it off this weekend), will be done tomorrow afternoon, all 8 replaced. Oil level was normal when I checked, but looked darker than usual. Not too many miles on this oil change, 73% life left on the DIC.
big_jon00 02-01-2005, 11:07 PM Finally got my injectors put in this week, it was quite a wait… I got the truck home knowing the oil was about a half quart high. Changed oil and filter ran truck for a few minutes and the oil looked as dirty as the oil I took out. I figured I would drive this oil a couple hundred miles and change it again, and do the same thing again another couple hundred miles, then go back to the expensive mobile one synthetic.
The truck doesn’t smoke the white smoke like before but it still has a light haze of bluish smoke at the exhaust but I really haven’t driven it yet, just been seeing at idle in the drive way for a few minutes.. after being plugged in for a few hours, but it’s still in the 20’s here mostly, I don’t know if that is normal or not; considering I don’t drive the truck in the winter.
Thanks,
Jon
marcdeluca 02-02-2005, 09:52 AM I wouldn't get too concerned about some smoke yet, the exhaust is probably loaded with fuel from before the repair. Some hard highway driving should clear it up soon.
PA24Pilot 02-02-2005, 06:36 PM Do you have a GMC or Chevy? Curious what dealer you took it to that had you wait so long. Since Lancaster sold out to Darrow I wonder how their service is. The building is a lot smaller now.
big_jon00 02-02-2005, 10:01 PM I took it to Stark in Sun Prairie. "GMC". I know a few of the guys there they didn't give me too much flack.. it just took for ever to get them in. I was going to take it to Johnson Sales in Arlington they claimed to be able to get them in quicker but I just took it to Stark because they were able to look at it sooner..
Bill Gisse 02-03-2005, 06:26 AM Get an email off to your GM Service Rep, tell them your problem, your dealers name and address, and that there may be a Dodge in your future if your service doesn't improve. You will be surprised how fast they reply. Sounds likee your dealer needs a shake up.
Give them your telephone no.to., they don't like to put anything in writting,

Be sure you are using Mobile 1 rated for diesel. My dealer told me using regular Mobile 1 (non diesel rated) might be questioned all though they have never had reason to yet.
