I've had the mrbp 4" straight pipe exhaust for nearly two years and just now saw this "powertube" to help increase exhaust flow.....Has anyone tried this yet? Will there really be a noticeable difference in seat of the pants or performance?
"Your diesel truck was designed at the factory to "push" the exhaust through the stock exhaust system. Once the maximum volume is reached, there isn't any room left for additional flow. We always recommend installing a 4.00" exhaust system and a cold air intake to make room for increased exhaust flow. This works extremely well for increasing power, torque, fuel economy and lowering EGT's. Until now, there hasn't been much more that can be done for increasing exhaust flow.
The MBRP Power Tube is engineered to accelerate exhaust flow when installed into a 4" diesel exhaust system. The Power Tube works on the venturi principle to speed up the exhaust flow. Exhaust flow in the center is always travelling faster than the exhaust flow along the outside walls of the exhaust tubing. The exhaust travelling along the walls off the tubing is slower and is commonly know as boundary layer flow. The Power Tube decreases boundary layer flow through the holes placed around the internal venturi. Decreasing the boundary layer flow will reduce flow friction and increase exhaust speed and velocity.
By increasing the exhaust flow, the engine works more efficiently in the lower and mid RPM range. The Power Tube not only creates additional torque, but tests show it also can help improve fuel economy for your diesel. Each Power Tube is full CNC built to tight tolerances; the tubing shell is stainless steel and comes complete with 4" clamps. All of the parts that you need for installation are included in the kit. Please note the Power Tube will fit and work with any 4" exhaust system on the market today. The overall length of the Power Tube is 11"."
Thanks,
Jonathan
