I installed a FS and blocker about a month ago and at the same time re-routed my PCV. The temps have turned colder here now(below 40) and I've noticed my truck takes quite a bit longer than it did to get up to 190. Since the blocker and reroute it ran cooler when it was warm and would jump right down in temp as soon as I got off the interstate. Could this have any detrimental long term effects on my motor? I know every motor has an optimal operational temp. range... what do you guys think and have any of you experienced this?

interesting ,, i did the fs&blockerplate recently,, and our temp here right now is -30(c),, im gonna go have to pay attn to the warmup time see if it is indeed slower..

ugghhhhh Manitoba, any snow there?

I didnt notice a difference in warm up times when I did the Finger stick and blocker. But I didnt really pay attention to it.

It's probably due to the cooler temps you're driving in this time of year. The EGR is water cooled, however I doubt it contributes that much to the overall water temp. If your heater was taking longer to warm up I could see it since the heater is plumbed in line with the EGR cooler.

I've also noticed my truck warms slower after the fs/blocker. It’s gotten down around 20 a few times here and takes forever to warm up- longer than it used to. Even after it warms up, the motor seems to cool a little when sitting still (if its pretty cold out). I had it out on the highway for about 20 minutes, and then came off the exit ramp and the temp gauge immediately started to drop. Not much but 5-10*. Enough to be noticeable on the gauge. It was probably 25 or so that morning. I'm thinking about getting a grill cover for it...

Normal for a stocker too.

I agree. It does cool off faster than it had before if I get off the interstate and idle around. I guess that is when the EGR would work and maybe heat up the cylinders more...?
I really hope the slow warm up time and the cool off doesn't screw up the motor long term. I doubt it but ya never know.

That's cool, I just never noticed it before...
I doubt it will cause any harm, seeing as most do it- diesels just take their time.

I've got a little white Subaru I drive around town and that thing is warm by the time I back down the drive!
