I use to pull a 8000 lb camper and never bthered w/ T/H ececpt on long hills. THe D/A doesn't even know that the pop-up is back there.

I probably wouldn't use it just going down the road, but I really like using the tow/haul going down steep hills and when stopping. Saves the brakes
a little.:driver:

totally uneeded at 1500lbs. the only time the d-max ever let me know I was towing was when I had a skid steer in tow, and even that wasn't that big of a deal.

According to GM you should not need Tow/Haul mode unless your gross weight is over 16000 pounds. So it is not needed unless you are towing over 8000 pounds. But like the others stated, it is nice on steep downgrades.
