I was reading in my local newspaper the other day, that not only are the humvees headed to Iraq getting armor, but engine enhancement as well.
Does anyone happen to know what they are doing to get more out of those 6.5's?

YA, there are taking the 6.5 out and putting in the DMAX/ALLY combo... Not sure if those are the ones that are going, but hey you never know. I think the military should be able to get them first and have the chance to see what they will really do...

I wish that we would get the DMax. The non-turbo 6.5 is not cutting it with all the weight of the armor

Are you absolutely sure the Military version is getting the Duramax?
I read an article where that said only the civilian Hummer is getting the Duramax while the military still will be going with the 6.5.

i would doubt that they would ....they want vehicles that can be rebuilt very easily in the field if needed the newer electronic motors would be a PITA.......also all the electronics could get u in trouble if the enemy has some sort of emf machine they could disable your vehicle pretty easy.....just my thoughts though, who knows

I have heard various rumors but who knows for sure. I guess we will see when the time comes... I know some close personal friends in the service and they have talked about it and other issues they are facing and dealing with. Only time will tell...
