: Dome light is out

I need a more experienced hand, in diagnosing a non functioning dome light. The one in the center of the overhead headliner. I have no center dome (overhead) in the headliner. I do have both spotlights on the right and left of the dome. Both spotlights on the front portion of the headliner also work, when you push the on/off button. I've also lost my backup lights, when the truck is running, and you shift to reverse.

When I open the drivers door, & trucks turned off, and poke the dome override button, I do get the lights on the inside of the right and left front door panels, so the dome override seems ok. Turning up the rheostat by the dome overide turns on the door panel lights, but not the overhead dome light.

I had a set of running boards installed, with Westin lights, that they tapped the electrical above the drivers left foot. I've traced it, it all seems clean, no frayed wires, etc.

I've replaced both the backup light fuse, and trailer backup light fuse, in the fuse block on the left fender apron. Nothing changed. I also pulled the fuse on the left fender apron fuseblock for INTPARK for interior lamps per my owners manual. Ironically, all the interior lights still work except the dome with the fuse pulled.

I replaced the overhead dome light, which was a large tube style lamp with a label on the metal ends of TS 578. It wasn't blown, but I replaced it with 211-2 style bulb which matches the size, but the ends are a little different. The oem dome has 2 wires stuck in the sides of the metal band, like somebody shot a tiny staple into it, and only the top of the staple head sticks out to make contact with the connections.

I believe what I need to look for and don't know where to find it, is the "delay" switch or fuse. That is, when you hit lock on your clicker, the doors lock, and as I recall, the dome light comes on, the two front spotlights come on in the headliner, and the backup lights go on for about 20 seconds then it would slowly fade to black. It's the same when you click unlock, that relay lights up the dome lights, front headliner spotlights, and backups, as least I think it did.

Can somebody help me identify that relay, and where to find it? If there is a way of testing it with a voltmeter, any advise would be appreciated.

Please don't think me a smart ass, but did you check the dome light over ride? It's a button that turns the dome light off so it won't come on when you open the door.

(I'm speaking from experience here.........)

I fixed a customer's truck today with this exact same problem. No back up lights and no domelight. It was a fuse on the side of the dash labeled "TBC2"or something like that. It was definately three letters with a 2 at the end. It was towards the bottom of the fuse panel. Fuse was blown.

TBC 2B is the exact name of the fuse location.

I read the whole post but some how missed that. Looks like I'm going to have to sue Evelyn Woods. :o:

No offense taken here. I'll check that fuse location, and see if that cures what ails her.

Trailerpro nailed it. Fuse TBC 2B on the left side of the dash was blown. New fuse, and boom, dome lights, backup's the works. Temps are dropping fast, upslope snow moving into Denver, trucks ready for service. Lifes good! Thanks to Trailerpro and Tom S. for their replies.

Check all the things in this post (even my stupid idea) and see if it fixes your problem.

Checked the TCB fuse, mines doesn't say "tcb 2", dome light override, installed new bulb...is the TCB fuse the only fuse that would pertain to this situation, I checked the ones that I thought might have something to do with it, but maybe I over looked one?

Here's where my fuse was located.

Photo 196 is of the fuse cover, on the left side of the dash, on an 05 dmax cc.
Photo 198 is close up of the fuse location on the fuse guide, inside the fuse cover. As you're looking in the truck, it's about 5:30 on a watch dial, almost right at the bottom
photo 199 is the actual fuse block, the one I changed is the weird colored blue one, 2 below, the left yellow fuse.
Photo 200 is the fuse I switched out, with a yellow marker pointing to it.

I realize you're year may be a little different. Perhaps somebody can chime in with the location of the fuse, on the same year rig.

I am trying one of those lighted blown fuse indicators. It's supposed to light up on that little tit on the end, when it blows. We'll see if it does or if these fancy fuses really "blow".

Thanks for all the help...does anyone know if there is much difference between the '01 and '05 fuse block?
