Does anyone have information regarding the pending replacement for the GMT-800 body. Info on the web is scarce and what I've read in the magazines lacks any details or pics. Just that it's an expected '07 MY release.
I've only heard that it is a redesign and that they may come out with a mini-Duramax option. I don't get it. Why would the marketing types think I'd want to buy a lower output option for my new tow rig/SUV?

The 'mini' is across the Pacific Ocean. I think one of the Military fellas around here might be able to tell ya more. Well, that and some patience.......... more than 15 minutes at least. ):h

we are building dies for the 900 SUVs right now.
The smaller Dmax goes in the mid size platforms.

I'm hoping he means Envoy/Trailblazer/Colorado/etc. as mid-size for ther D-Max Jr. I'm still hoping for the full-size D-Max in the GMT-900 Suburban/Yukon replacement.
Why reduce the capabilities of the premire GM tow platform with a reduced capability powerplant?
Next, they should follow through with the D-Max Quadrasteer v.2.0 combo as on the COMBATT...I know, I'm a big dreamer...

I haven't got any info on drive train for 900 series since we only build sheet metal.
I'd love to see the H2 and Sub w/ D/A.

Rumor has it that they started making some mules...They are really covered in misleading camo and most likely will carry the same body they have now to test the platform. Expect some camoed pics, but I really don't expect to see any conclusive pics until GM releases them....

I saw some spy shots of it somewhere in one of the rags, but the cammo was really effective. I guess with the competition hotter than ever, especially with the Japanese manufactures constantly benchmarking on the US designs, they have to keep a lid on things. I just hope GM listens to their consumer base and comes out with the packages we (and the designers) want, not what the accountants want.

Rumors of a gas V-10 and a straight front axle on HD 4X4's, that's about it. Just rumors.
I know they are using the Isuzu designed Colorado/Canyon platform for the H3 baby Hummer. I don't know about you but I seen one of the Canyon's on a lift when they first came out... nothing substantial under there that's for sure. I couldn't believe they used that for a Hummer named vehicle. GM has no conscience.
On the other hand Jeep is considering seriously a large Jeep SUV built on the Dodge 2500 Cummins platform. Looks like different directions for the companies huh?
The concept vehicle has more than thay would offer to the general public but they will include most of the following. Kinda puts a hurtin on the H2.
Look at the pic below and remember... it's on 37" tires... it's bigger than an H2 Hummer.
* AC electric power (10 kW) generation in the field
* 3-D topographical mapping software and topographical navigation system
* Under- chassis, point-of-view cameras for avoiding danger in its path
* Passive, infrared (thermal) cameras for search and rescue
* Satellite telephone; VHF radio, digital video recorder with satellite transmission capability
* Retractable 4-point harnesses for vehicle occupants
* Exterior perimeter lighting
* White LEV lighting for long distance visual search and reduced power use
* Folding seats in rear compartment of vehicle
* Remote control winch – front and back
Featuring all-new body-on-frame construction with hydroformed frame rails and riding on an 80-inch wide chassis with 123-inch wheelbase and 37-inch tires, the Jeep Rescue is built for anything thrown its way. The front hydropneumatic suspension combines with the heavy-duty link-coil rear suspension to give the Rescue its solid footing on all terrain. The suspension has adj ride height and an additional 4-inch lift available for fording. The aforementioned 37-inch tires feature an MTR tread and run-flat capability, negating the need for a spare. On-board tire pressure control has the ability to “tune” tire pressures for maximum traction on all surfaces.

That is the ugliest color that I have ever seen.
That is the ugliest color that I have ever seen. Concepts vehicles seem to always be done that way. I remember seeing a Saturn VUE for the first time at the auto show and it was lime green. Turns out you can buy one in that color today.

To be honest I think GM is thinking one way.... downsizing. Started with IFS and they never looked back.
