I just bought a 2000 F250 with the powerstroke in it and was wondering if it would be allright to run John Deere Plus 50 oil in it it is a non synthetic 15w-40 and we run it in our combines and tractors with out any problems i would like to keep it simple useing one oil. The guy had ben runing shell rotella in it because its what he uses in his big trucks. any adviece is appreated.

My dad has a 99 7.3 PSD, he has ran the John Deere plus 50 since he bought the truck new. Truck has 110k miles on it now with no problems.

I'm guessing that the Deere oil is manufactured by one of the big oil companies. They also sell a full synthetic 0w40.
