Is it possible to get XM in a truck that doesn't have it built in? The '05 that I bought doesn't have it built in (no antenna or radio unit), I was wondering what is needed to do it, or would it be easier to get the reciever etc. from xm?

I added xm on my 2005 which has bose. You need to go to your dealer and ask what pieces you need. I beleive its the antenna and the unit to hook to the radio

Merchant Auto has the stock 03-07 GM kit. As long as you dont have a work-truck basic model radio, then it should be plug-n-play.

Look up the Direct XM adapters and Turk receivers stuff. I added XM to my truck, but I did have a GM head unit in it. Works awesome.

If you go with the GM OEM XM unit, DO NOT BUY A USED XM BOX!!!
They are VIN-locked to the vehicle they came out of, and wont work in any other vehicle.

I had the dealer add it to my 07, GM part #88961286. The best part is the steering wheel controls and the ability to preset XM stations.
The add on XM antenna is not a shark fin and was installed on the passenger side of my roof. I wasn't too happy about this as I was told it would look factory.
