What does it matter when the additives are put in the fuel tank? I notice on the bottle it recommeds this being done before you fuel up. I normally don't have the additive with me, I have made smaller doses at times, so most times I put them in when I get home. Normal driving has got to mix the additives no matter when you put them in. Any thoughts?

I usually wait until I need to fill up........I dump the additive in at the house and drive staright to the station for fill-up......

If I fuel up on my way home I will wait until I get home and dump the additive in then.........and I keep a 5 gallon jug of diesel on hand in case I run real low or to wash the additive down the fill neck.......

I normally dump my additive in just before fueling - carry it in a Sta-Bil measuring squeeze bottle in my toolbox. That way it gets flushed down the filler hose and mixed by the added fuel. I don't think it's much of an issue before or after due to the recirculation flow and mixing that goes on in the fuel tank all the time.

Same here: use a pre-mixed in Sta-bil bottle and dump it in at the fuel station for maximizing mixing.

:) Additive needs to go in first to assure it is mixed up good . I understand the diesels fill tube goes almost to the bottom of the tank to redeuce foaming. Also i believe ( Or at least on the gasser ) theres a small pan at the bottom of the tank that the fuel gauge float assembly (also the fuel pump on a gasser) sets in and this pan also holds a small amount fuel when going up a steep hill and if the tank is so low so as to allow that pan be above the fiuel because of the inclline. If that pan wasn't there then the pump ( gasser) would suck air and you'd be stuck. I've been there with a gasser pulling a trailer and running on fumes in the hills. I suspect a diesel has the same arrangement and if so if you put the additve after fueling a lot of it may get sucked up before being properly mixed. Just a therory.

Can I ask what additives y'all are using?

Thanks,

I dump in 8oz. of Power Service Diesel Clean at the station right before fill-up. I pre-fill old water bottles at home and take them with me to the station. I buy Power Service in 1/2 gallon jugs at Farm and Fleet for $10.00.

I use FPPF added prior to filling, mixed it at the rate of a little over 1 oz. to 10 gallons of fue ... have no clue if it really helps or not but the truck has run so good for so long that I am afraid to change anything !

I use FPPF Total Power. Put about 1 oz. per 10 gallons (actually I put 3 oz. into my 32 gallon OEM tank when filling with 24 gallons and 4 oz. into my 43 gallon aux tank when filling with 32 gallons) so I guess I'm actually treating about 1.5 to 10.
