I've picked something up on various threads that I think is a pleasant surprise but I wanted to be sure.
I had just assumed that my DMAX would require bi-annual smog, like all my gassers.
However, I've read that California, the tree-hugging, hippie-loving state actually *doesn't* require smog on diesels - can this be true??? :o
If so, I was hesitant about doing the EGR blocker plate and removing my cat, but if I'm not going to have to re-do it all every two years to pass smog, I'll be a happy man. Till now, I'd just assumed that every couple of years I'd have to take my Juice to zero, re-install my cat, and open up my EGR valve.
I'd read on this thread: http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12715&page=16&pp=10
that GM introduced the EGR on the LLY to meet 2007 smog requirements compliance, so I'm wondering why they did this in 2004, and if that means that I can remove my cat and put an EGR blocker plate in without Diane Feinstein coming to arrrest me.
Any input from other CA DMAX owners would be appreciated.
