How many miles until the LB7 is broke in. I've heard around 50,000 miles.

Call me crazy, but I think that Tolli is right. Seems like these LB7's get better with age as long as you maintain them and be aware of the injector issues that most have faced. Just my $.02. I have over 90k on mine now, and love it more everyday.

Ditto the above. I have 140K on mine and it's running great! I seem to remember that somewhere arounf 20K miles the fuel mileage really started improving. Without the trailer on the back I get nearly 25 at 70 MPH on the highway.

Based on what GM says the rings are seated fully somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 miles. I know that now I am in the area of 130,000 miles that the engine has quieted a great deal since I got with 33,000 on it. but as stated above, maintaining them and changing fluids will definately prolong the life of the engine. I run strictly Mobil Delvac 1 and over 10,000 miles between oil changes I dont even burn a quart. 50,000 miles until break in might be a stretch because typical over haul of the LB7 is recommended around 250,000. 50,000 miles would equate to 20% of the engine life but I know they are good for all of 250,000.........

I hope they are good for more than 250,000. I have 235,000 on mine and if it pulled any stronger I'll have to get a better trailer.

Got 180k+ on mine and like the rest it's getting better all the time. One set of injectors at 157k. Here's a couple of links that might interest you guys on how many miles you can get out of 'em. :driver:
