I have an 05 D-max and seem to get a fuel smell or an exhaust smell inside the cab...It seems to only smell once and a while and only when i am stopped...What should i look into 1st?

The exhaust pipe. It floats around from the back and gets pulled in the ventilation.

Yeah, a breeze from the back is the most noticable. I really don't the smell that often,
and I clears quickly as soon as I start to move.

You will notice it more w/CAT removed too, starts to smell more like a 6.5 TD.

Anyone else have any input on this matter...The smell is pretty bad and even when i open the hood it smells like exhaust...I do hear a tick once and awhile can a header gasket be going and putting the smell into the vents..The smell is only in the truck when i have the heat on..

an 05? Why don't you just let the dealer figure it out?

I had this problem and it was the injector pump leaking. Fixed and now no smell.
