With 430 torque I thought it would be as simple as mashing the gas down all the way at a light.

Do you have to brake torque so the turbo will spool up first or is my truck sick?

Most do power brake it to get started.

Find a slick finish cement/ slurrry coated asphalt & pour down some soapy water, sweep till just wet & hold the brakes some & let her rip!!! When the tires start to grip the the boost will come in!!!

i can just stab it down from a stop, not holding the brake and it will burn them for a few then when it shifts into 2nd its barks them again.........

You also have a maxetorq, he is stock. my truck will do if i get them started on a fairly slippery, or wet surface, but i havent tried it ith my new tires because for $1000 i want then to last a while.

It would do it stock also, the chip did not help THAT much:(

The only thing it does now that it did not before the chip is bark the tires when it shifts into 2nd

If you can light em off a standing stop with no brake your doing good.

Mine will (until i blew my tranney) make them squeak from a dead stop on dry highway. Also, with a little bit of braking, it will spin the tires quite easily as well, not to mention it's a 6.2!:D

On my 3500srw, mostly stock, 4.10 gears and some 245 half worn out bfg long trail tires I can spin them pretty easy, not by reving and dumping clutch either. I have even had some trouble with tire spin with the gooseneck trailer on truck. My ability to spin on demand I pretty much think is because of the tires. Got a set of new tires, just havn't got them put on yet.

with my old tires i could get an ever so light squeal depending on the pavement. some places i could, some not. it's also a dually. I now have new tires and not a chance in heck of squealling. in the rain i can spinem off the line. i'll post new results in two weeks as I have an appt. with heaths to get HO injectors and new computer installed. guess i'll get to meet Bill and or Ian... I was surprised with my rig, if I just tap the gas it will break them loose in the grass.

Before I bought the truck I was riding in it and we were at a stop sign thats goes up a slight hill. The guy romped on it and there was smoke blowing out the slant stacks and white smoke everywhere. And it was burning those tires clear across the itersection.

Boo!

I'm gonna send my wimpy 6.5 in the corner, my Metro does a better burnout :(

I'll write down my codes tommorow.

I would love to know what my ratio is.

With the stock 225/75/16s I could light all four whenever I wanted, and do brakestands til the cloud cover blocked out the sun. Went up to new 235/85s and it got a little harder to break them loose, but still possible to brakestand. Been in limp mode for so long now I can't do much of anything. Which saves on tires.

235's are frigging small. no wonder you can light them.

235s is what I have on my little stock jimmy, I think that was the factory size. I almost went bigger but figured it was mostly road use so Ill keep it stock and save some money. 235 is small for a full size rig.

Why would you want to do a burnout for?

Because some people have money to burn on fuel and tires!! Don't you ever have the urge to lay a big, smoky, patch? I do, but I have kids to feed, so I try to refrain from destroying tires, but it sure is fun.:D

It's a pretty common size dually tire.

do you think it would be harder for the truck to squall the tires at a complete stop w/out using brakes and using 35" tires?

jimmyt83
11-17-2007, 12:35 PM
He!! YA it'd be harder...bigger tires means the ground has more leverage against the axles...or higher (numerically lower) final gear ratio.

maybe that's why I cant do it then, haha

to be honest, i've never really tried, I've never pushed my pedal to the floor because i dont wanna break something..that's the truth too..do you push your pedal to the floor? When it's wet out it's really easy, I can spin my tires out like crazyyyy

It does not rain much here. I do not think I have ever owned a vehicle that has not done a burnout. I even own a 9500# 1970 GMC dually with a Holmes 440 on it and I did a burnout in it a couple of weeks back.

I guess I have changed a bit because everything I owned at one time or another would be buried under a cloud of white smoke . I'm a wimp now or I just dont get the jolt that I use to from it . Plus I hate fixing crap anymore :D.

I was the same, when I got my jimmy I was easy on it. I tried to break a tire loose once but wasnt going to shove it to the floor. I did a little burn out in it once just to see if it would do it and it did.

I just took my 6.5 down the dirt road behind the house :D. 70mph down a wet dirt road in the rain with no seat belt on may not have been smart but I had fun. And it broke em loose when I did a donut. Its not licensed or insured right now so I can only beat around the fields.

No I never have, I will probably some day. I was riding in the truck I have now before I bought it and he did it alot. I doubt my jimmy has enough torque to do and Im sure it wont do it now with that brand new rubber on there.

The 6.5 in my rig will :grd:

Any Vehicle can spin like crazy on wet weather, I can even spin like crazy riding a huffy on wer pavement and yes I stomp the Pedal all the way down to the floor.

You need to live more, abuse your truck its good for vehicles to go wot everyonce in a while :)

You put exhaust and a chip into it and have NEVER put your pedal to the floor?????:eek::eek:

My personal opinion...I have stomped on it from a dead stop, stomped on it from anywhere from 1-60 mph...but I don't believe that I beat on my truck.
I treat it well, and if things are operating as they should be, there should be no problem giving it full throttle occasionally. And if things aren't operating the way they should be, I guess I'll have to replace them with bigger and better parts so they will stand up to standard operation...:p:

Oh man, I saw that video about a month ago and laughed my butt off. It is funny not that he crashed but at the fact that he was trying to show off like he did.

I do sincerely hope that he was of after the accident but I also do hope that he realized what he did was dumb, especially the whole no helmet thing.
