It's not so much the kit as the tires you choose. Although I believe many kits require that some brackets be cut off, you can still ask the shop to give them to you if you had some reason to weld them back on later to return the truck to stock. But the big thing is the potential cutting of wheel wells to fit big rubber.

that is not true, sorry, there are many lift kits that require no cutting of the wheelwells to fit tires, as far as other things being cut, there are a couple out there, I believe skyjacker is one of them, altough I am not positve. most require you to cut off the front diff mounting bracket to allow it to drop down, and it is not something that is easily welded back on. -Jeff

As far as I have found the only one is skyjacker. On all other spindle lifts I have seen you cut the front mount off the differential, which is aluminum. The full drop kits are worse, you cut parts for the upper a arm mounts to lower them too. If you keep all the parts you can weld everything back together though. I know a guy that has a mig welder he can set up for aluminum and he took his rancho off his 2001 when he got his 2003 and he said it was easy to put it all back. On the rancho, rcd, fabtech type spindle lifts the parts you need to weld back on are the mounting ear on the front of the differential and the back diff mount on the frame. Not too hard if you want to return to stock. You never will once you lift it I bet.

it's not about true or untrue. That's why I didn't say "all" kits - it was a generalization for that reason. some do require cutting of brackets, some don't.

The Way Skyjacker Eliminates Cutting The Diff Is Offseting It To One Side By About 2 Inches. So On One Side Of The Diff You Have A 1/2" Axle Spacer And The Other Side You Have Like A 2 1/2" Spacer. Not Exactly The Best Way To Do It. The Rcd Or Fabtech Are Good Strong Lifts And Do Not Require A Major Amount Of Work To Return To Stock. We Do It All The Time, Just Need Someone/shop With A Aluminim Welder.
