Alright, before I start, know that I have already PM'd Brayden about the cheetah turbo's, so thats taken care of (just not sure I'll be able to afford one.)
That being said, what can a guy do to an otherwise stock LB7 IHI turbo to help it produce, say 35 PSIG boost without killing itself? I know, I know, just buy a bigger turbo...But I am going for the sleeper look here, and I love the looks on people's faces when you lift the hood and they find nothing!
So any of you turbo gurus out there have any suggestions? enlarging the bleed ring? clipping the compressor fins? Can anyone point me in the direction of where to get different compressor wheels? I have the materials, equipment and whatnot at my disposal to do most anything, I just need the suggestions on what to try!
Thanks guys!

boost valve and tuning (fuel) is all you need to get the boost youre talking about, but the boost youre talking about (35 psi) will make the turbo go boom! 31 is all i would push the stock turbo to.

A2k or the GT3788 both run about 2400-2600 max about 35psi

I'm well aware of this. I'd been running mine at 29 PSIG and it went boom. so I'd be verry carefull at 30 PSIG as well...
I'm looking for mods that can be done to the factory installed IHI to increase its output potential. compressor housing mods? turbine housing mods? perhaps a change in compressor or turbine wheels?

a 4094 looks as stock as a IHI with a intake.

I didn't figure on changing the turbine housing...its too "specialized" But if I could find some different compressor wheels and/or compressor housings/mods for this turbo...

Just get a bigger turbo! You wont regret it once you pay the loan off!

I wish I could help you out here since no one understands what you are talking about. The only thing that I can think of would be to get a compressor housing and wheel from Brayden and pair it with your stock exhaust side. I don't think that you will be able to find anything unless someone is custom making it for our IHI turbos.

It's being worked on. The larger compressor wheel is easy. The turbine wheel is another story and it's what is needed most.

Thanks guys, for the info. Guess I'll just start tryin stuff and see how it goes!

It all depends on if you want a completely stock appearing turbo or if you can fudge a little. I can use another cartridge with the stock IHI pedestal/wastegate assembley much easier than trying to fit a larger turbine in the IHI cart.
What really needs to be figured out is if they'll allow LLY chargers on LB7 engines. Some pulling organizations may allow it, some may not.

Yes, Brayden is right here, DHRA rules stated that you update or change to new parts between years. So by that right there you should be able to use the LLY or LBZ charger on your LB7 and be well with in the rules.

Oh yeah, the Garrett Maxpower kit for the LB7 works great and at 32-35psi on the Dyno made 550+rwhp on a single cp3 stock LB7 ally pulling truck!

Thanks :D The LLY/LBZ/LMM casting is much easier to work with.

x2!
Nothing better than a turbo that can be tuned!
