: Predator and trans. options
gandgracing 11-14-2007, 05:18 AM Just got my new predator tuner and love it. Was wandering though about the trans. settings you can change from automatic to manual. If the trans. has its own computer and the tuner doesn't relay to it then what is the difference. Just thinking that maybe it does away with the defuel since the manual doesn't need it. I could be wrong but it was just a thought. Any ideas?
JC PAINT WORKZ 11-15-2007, 07:06 PM ? i would like to know.. im about to buy one
BudTX 11-15-2007, 08:39 PM There was a post here a year or so ago about this very topic, but I can't find it.
The gist was that the official position from Diablosport was that it made no difference in performance, but some posters here felt that it shifted more assertively on an auto tranny if set in the "manual" mode. Lack of defueling could well be the reason.

So, I take it that the Predator WILL accept "manual" and go ahead and program even though it is actually an automatic?
Unit453 11-15-2007, 09:56 PM I remember that thread as well. I also remember the guy saying he liked the way it shifted alot better in the manual mode.

Yes; that's what the thread talked about. I have never tried it, though.
gandgracing 11-16-2007, 03:09 AM I'll try and call Diablo today and see if I can get any answers from them
neubauej 11-21-2007, 09:03 PM Any update on this?
gandgracing 11-22-2007, 12:34 AM I tried calling and was on hold forever. Wrote a post on Diablos forum site and they must not of read the post all the way through, so they didn't answer my exact question. Wrote another post that I reworded and they haven't replied. It would be nice to get a straight answer.
Trotorx2 11-22-2007, 10:54 AM Getting a specific answer to a question on the Diablo forum is rare. Mostly a generic answer. I quit asking questions there.
neubauej 11-26-2007, 05:15 PM I figured I would try this and report back, just incase somebody else was interested. I changed from auto to manual, then re-loaded the 120 tune. I noticed MUCH less defuel during shifts, I like it. Try it!!!
gandgracing 11-26-2007, 05:50 PM I will give it a shot to see the difference. I'm really going to need the trans. go jr. kit. It just seems that could be the only difference from manual to auto loading.
olboy82 11-26-2007, 07:43 PM I'll hafta try that myself, I never would have thought about it, but it makes sense with the defueling and stuff
cowdoc 11-26-2007, 10:06 PM I have mine loaded with the Pred set on manual. 65 hp is as high as I have gone so I can't say whether or not it shifts any different. I can say that the shifts are as smooth as stock!
gandgracing 11-27-2007, 06:25 PM Here it what Mike L. says from Diablosport- "You cannot load the manual tune into an auto. No matter what you select, the correct tune for your truck will be applied. The defuel function will work either way."
smokinchevy 11-27-2007, 06:59 PM if it does actualy not defuel in manual mode, wouldnt that be harder on the trans anyways?

Theoretically, yes, at the higher tunes.
