: -------(WVO) i need a pumpm helppppppppp-------
prorida 11-14-2007, 01:40 AM so i need a pump to get the waste oil, from businesses.
So i got a fill-right electric pump, and it just ain't working. it bogs down and gives up. I've made screens for it, but it just isn't working... So what are you guys useing to get your waste oil into your barrels or whatever your storage tanks are.
I want a beast that will eat up fry's or fingers, whatever. Please help cause ive got oil waiting for me, but i don't how much longer it will be.
jj500 11-14-2007, 01:52 AM Try a vacuum sucker system, use a 50 to 80 gallon tank, pressurize it then suck up the oil.Look on some of the Biodiesel forums for plans and how to build it.Very quiet and works great.
prorida 11-14-2007, 02:14 AM well i deff need something, i've been serching the forum, and there is no difinitive pump. Or is everyone just hideing the info?
Redsb3 11-14-2007, 05:51 PM Check with your local Home Depot or Lowes for a "trash pump". That's what they're called. You can use them to pump water with dirt, rocks whatever in it. If you just used to pump your oil, should be fine. They're electric and you could pump 80 gallons in about 3 or 4 minutes. Usually they have an 1 1/2 suction hose, just be sure you hold on to the discharge end. Good luck.

That's what I have except it's gas powered. It pumps 1 gallon per second at half throttle. Worth every penny. I got it for $130 like new.
prorida 11-14-2007, 07:31 PM use to use trash pumps when i was fightin fire. And i already have a little honda trash pump. It's just alittle loud and annoying. but if thats what you guys are useing, then i guess i'l try it.
Gradyghost 11-14-2007, 08:16 PM Do a search we did this topic not to long ago.
We use air diaphragm pumps Warren Rupp Sandpiper. You can get them from www.northerntool.com.
No prime necessary and you can pump french frys and eggrolls through them if you want!
In the winter your gonna have a hard time pumping oil if its cold outside. So a liftgate might be the next option. Also next option is to have the restaurant put the oil back into the 5 gal cubes.
Been there done that. Started making biodiesel back in 1999 and now I own a 5 million gallon per year biodiesel production facility!
Fun stuff.
prorida 11-15-2007, 01:11 AM yea i found the last guy that asked this question. and got a couple of options. just not a whole lot of feedback on what people are useing or reviews.

I'm looking into starting to make my own Bio, any hints on sart up, anything you would have done different, any do's and don't's you'd suggest? Luckily it doesn't get too cold down here. I'd appreciate any advice. What do the chemicals cost per gallon of Bio? And where's the cheapest place to get them?
jdugie123 11-15-2007, 02:19 PM i looked into using a 1" clear water pump. i have two sitting around at home i just need to get them set up so that it is just a matter of plugging it in at the restaurant.

Yes I have some hints!
1. Safety is the most important thing!
2. Get a good system for making the biodiesel. IE. Metal reactor
3. Air pumps are awesome. (Air Diaphragm)
4. Start a local coop and work with others (this will help split startup costs)
5. Always test your fuel before you use it and make sure it will pass ASTM tests!
