I just want to get some of the tech's opinions on this. I took my truck to the stealer service center on Tuesday Morning (12/7/04). I gave them a list of stuff to look at and fix. Well they haven't done anything and won't do anything with anything on my list except the intercooler leak. They told me when I dropped if off that it should be done that afternoon before 5:00pm. Well now it is Friday and they are saying that they won't have the final part until Monday. They've been stringing me along every day saying tomorrow it will be done.

In your opinion how long should this take?

I beleive they are replacing just the hoses and clamps. They said they are waiting for some clip that was supposed to come with one of the hoses but they didn't get it.

I appreciate any input you guys may have.

You should have had your truck back that same day. They could have called you and said " We needed to order some parts for your vehicle. It is still driveable. We will notify you when the parts arrive and we will then schedule an appointment to perform the repairs." Thats the way I would have handled it.

They told me that GM said if the hose broke they would be buying me a new engine. I think at worst probably a turbo. They said they didn't want me driving it. I've been driving it for 2 months that way. The leak wasn't bad yet. Just some small drips of oil in my driveway. I guess since they took it apart before knowing what the hell they were doing I'm stuck. I guess I'll be shopping around for another stealer with a diesel mechanic for my next visit (hopefully I won't need one).

I hade the same problem fixed on mine start of the summer. They had it done in 4 hours or so. Even washed it. Time to find a new dealer.

Ron Baker Chevrolet. I used to take my 1500 to People's Chevrolet but when I got the Duramax they said they didn't have a good diesel mechanic on staff anymore so they referred me to Ron Baker Chevrolet. I had a real good relationship with People's before. I wish they would get a new diesel mechanic.

You might try Quality Chevrolet in Escondido. They seemed to be pretty customer satisfaction oriented. I worked there a few years back, don't know if they're still good. Might be worth a try if they're not too far from you. Good luck.

Less than an hour drive for me. I'll give them a call and see what they say about the reflash and see what kind of answer I get. Thanks for all the info. It's people like yourself that make this such a great site.

David Grubbs was the shop foreman when I was there, super-sharp, super-nice guy. Ask for him, he may be able to help, if not he will surely direct you to someone who can.

The last time a dealer stalled me on delivery of my truck after something that should have taken 2 days they were doing body work from where the technician dropped it off the rack :(. Not to say thats whats going on, just look the truck over (and under) when you get it back. Point out anything that looks funny.

Funny you should mention that. They Broke my license plate frame and my license plate was pushed into the bumper. Further examination showed the front bumper pushed in about a half inch. They are going to fix it and buff out all of my scratches.
