Whenever I start my truck up in the morning or after it has sat for a bit and cools down I get this sound (sounds like its coming from under the glove box, heatercore im guessing) like there is water flowing through there and when I put it in gear and go the water sounds like its flowing faster as I accelerate and the stops when I take my foot off the pedal and will do that until it reaches operating temperature. I dont have any water leaking in from anywhere around there. dont know if this has anything to do with my truck losing coolant im sure its the heads or block but any info would be handy. Thanks.

If you are loosing coolant the sound you hear may be air circulating though the system. Have you checked the coolant level?

yes I always top it up there have been a few times when its low but I have not over heated it. Thought the sound was weird and was wondering if anyone else has had this happen. just wanted some opinions gonna take the truck off the road next week and pull the heads and see whats going on.

I can't say I have heard what you discribe...but then I don't have a coolant loss. Have you done the check to see if exhaust is going into the coolant system (cracked head or head gasket)? Just a thought, but if exhaust is making it's way into your coolant system, this may be the sound you are hearing.

I know exactly what you're talking about, mine started doing it too after changing my IP.

I lost some coolant when I disconnected the thermostat housing, but re-filled it after. So it has something to do with that I'm assuming.

But ya, I know the sound you're talking about.

I've gotten the sound before, never was sure what it was... I should most likely change my fluid before winter comes. never been done in 11years im sure :)

Burp / purge the system of air. See this link http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=165650&highlight=purge+air+coolant

If the noise come back, perform again. If you need to perform more than twice, start looking for how air is entering the system. Most likely would be compression leak.

After changing a head, I was hearing the same type of noise in the heater core. Two weeks later the damaged head gasket failed. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185395
Since changing the gasket, no more noise. The damaged spot was bubbling slightly and the bubles would get pumped through the heater core when the Tstat was closed. It sounded like a sloshing sound in the dash.

I had the same problem, I backwashed my heater core and the the wierd sound stopped. Heater even works better.
