):h Tooke the section of steering shaft out this morning and found that it was almost dry.Cleaned the tube the best I could with a dry cloth on a piecce of dowel. Extended the shaft fully and fill the tube about 3/4 full with Schaeffer's #238 Moly Ulta Supreme Extreme Pressure Grease. Then stuffed a piece clothe in the tube and the put a piece of dowel in on top of the cloth. While holding the whole assemble with dowel against the vise and use body strength pushed the shaft back into the tube. Then pulled the shaft in and out a few times to spread tthe grease in the splines. Repeated this process three times until greas came out where the shat enter the tube. Then filled the tube with grease again ( wih shaft extend out all he way out) about 3/4 full and then slwly pushed the shaft back in and put the clip back in the tube. Then I put the assembly back in the truck, test drove it to asxsure the noise was gone. Its gone and I hope the fix last until GM gives me a permanent fix .Total cost was about $1.50 worth of grease, an old rag and some paper towels. One thing I learned is that a 76 year old 245# man had a tough time getting under tha dash to work on that end of the steeering shaft..
