F*** yes. Its about time they bring back the mid 90's to where they actually put diesels in the burbs and the halftons. Anyone remember the heavy half? I would really like to know what a Burb gets for fuel mileage with that motor.

Sweet, hopefully the premium we'll end up paying won't be as high then. But then again it's never a good idea to count on a giant like GM to not try and get every dollar out of you, is it?

Now the oil industry needs to ramp up production of diesel fuel. WTF - diesel was 3.899 a gallon here in the Lansing MI area yesterday.

I wanted to see a video of it running. The guy in the video didn't talk with to much enthusiasm..lol

Did he say NO exhaust manifolds????That's gonna make it hard to mod.

Now if they could only match it up into THIS (http://jalopnik.com/cars/la-auto-show/la-auto-show-preview-2009-chevrolet-silverado-dual+mode-hybrid-322437.php) and keep the GCWR up around 16,000 or more...

Exhaust is up top for less plumbing and a narrower-lighter engine, goes into the turbo. Sounds pretty clever to me. Don't know what effect it has on EGT's but I'm not an engineer, and their job is to make things like that work.

Now if they could just figure out how to make 3/4 ton Quadrasteer system, we're good.

From what I have read and heard, GM is working on there own trans of both motors. I think the Carlyle group bought rights to the Allison. Don't critisize me if I'm wrong, I remember reading about both issues in a diesel mag, but I haven't researched it. Besides that the new 4.5L is sweeeeet. A 6.8L V12 would be even sweeter...

I am looking to get into my first Diesel for economy, durability, and longevity and this motor may be the one that lets me do it. I have no need for a 3/4 ton. May be trading in my 03 sub.

I wasn't taking gassers into account. I guess the new 4.5 might not tear it up like the 6.6 was supposed to. As far as a factory Duramax with Quadrasteer? Post some pics.

With no exhaust manifolds there would almost have to be at least 2 turbos, one for each bank of the v-8, just a thought??? Or wishful thinking...lol

The way it sounded to me was like there was only the one, but the exhaust exited out the top and straight into the turbo from each bank. Then again, it did sort of sound like he said turbos...

It still needs manifolds but it is not as much plumbing since the exhaust comes out in the valley of the engine

The Youtube description of the no manifold system sounds almost like the old radial flow jet engine design.
