More than likely pushing the ISS back into place might have jarred the sensor and it will need to be re-set and cleared. I have read a few others having this issue as well.

Make sure that when you get this fixed that you have your airbag checked.

If you turned the steering wheel very far with the ISS out, you could have broken your SIR coil/ airbag clockspring. That would also explain your steering wheel controls not working.

Sorry to butt-in

I have this problem too once I removed my steering shaft to replace the rear glowplugs.(relevence?) I dont belive I turned mine around but more than a 1/8 a turn here and there. All functions work great except for I get a P0038 code. Says something about the "drivers side deployment" My truck is a 02 and I do not have steering wheel controls. Any ideas on my issue??? Clockspring??

Just got the service A/B on mine tonight, went right back off when I turned off the heated seats?????? Hit something a while back and shaterred the grill, saw two sensors, looked like the could be A/B sensors. They appeared to untouched from grill issue. Will look for light in future.

those arent the airbag sensors. those are ambient air temp sensors.

Just an FYI, everytime I have greased my ISS, I run the seat belt through the steering wheel and back to the latch. This keeps it from turning on accident.

If you must replace the clockspring, it is $240. I know

The service manager told me that they have come out this past may with a PERMANENT FIX on Intermidate Shaft I told him what I've read here and he says no one has came back with any complaints......???
And i asked him if they would do it under warranty and said sure how many miles on truck.....I say 219 thou!!!! he say's sorry over limit .
I laugh and say even though this has been a issue since day 1 you will not fix it he Shruggs and says NO...Nice Guy's:rolleyes:
