I got pissed at the max and said hell with it i'm goin to trade this damn thing. I went down to the f**d lot and got a new 05 4 door black on black leather sport loaded and even with a sun roof. That was what i wanted i was ready to trade and havnt even drove it yet. I told the salesman to let me drive it around the block before i made my mind up and do you know the DAMN THING WOULDNT CRANK ! Finally got it running, drove it around the block and back to the lot and wouldnt start again. To make a long story short i guess i will live with the max.

Speaking of Ford, a couple collegues of mine were in north central Alberta on Tuesday night. It was about -28°C or -18°F, there in the hotel parking lot was a 6.0 PSD with the owner laying under the engine with a Tiger Torch trying to heat up the oil pan so it would start. You can't run 15w40 oil at those temps and expect it to make the injectors work (HEUI System). Mine sat at the same temp for about 18 hours straight, with 15w40 oil (ouch:eek: it got changed right after that trip to 5w40), cycle the preheaters twice - away it went. Those PSD's either the 7.3 or 6.0 are not cold weather friendly especially without the right oil.

Well i got this rear end thing goin on and the front end is wore slap out and now there is nobody around this crummy town without driving 100 miles to replace the wore out parts on the front of this truck. I ordered all the stuff to fix it from fabtech but my fat a$$ aint no mechanic and i dont have the tools to fix it. So am just kinda fed up, so thats what landed me on a f**d lot. P.S. i have never even pulled anything with this so called heavy duty truck. I dont care if the truck cost 5 grand more when i bought it i would have paid it if gm would've put the money in some of the things they tried to save money on.

sorry about the gripe....admin can delete this thread and i wont mind.

The Ford 7.3 has a tube for the turbo that if it gets to cold with plug up with carbon and will run like crap. I mean it will take up to 10 minutes to get up to 30 miles an hour. They seem to have fixxed this issue with a shorter tube on the 6.0 but now you have this shroud around the fan that if you ever had to change a belt you better be ready to spend a lot of time moving things out of the way.

It(f**d stock wheels) is not as fast as the dmax(lifted 37's). He likes the way the dmax shifts also, like the dmax will kinda launch you more than the ford. Traded his dmax cause he broke the driveshaft center bearing (long bed) off roading in pismo beach, had a D60 on the front end that we changed. Basically traded cause he was pissed.

Actually I hate to say it but I think the 6.0L shifts better stock and modded then my allison. In all fairness I think the allison would be a lot better if the juice came on all the time instead of at 180 degrees. Too many changes in power seem to confuse the allison. I am hoping the predator will help out.

We did put the D60 conversion this last summer, dont think he has many up close pictures of how it looked. The conversion isn't too easy, ORU does make the kit for the leafs, but there is a lot of little stuff that adds up. The steering was always a little sloppy and liked to wander. You have to fab a lot of stuff yourself also.

With the steering wander on the Duramax with the D60 he should have felt right at home in a ford. ):h
