Where is it located? Is there anything special needed to get to it?

Thanks!

No. I believe they quit using them after 2003.

Not in his 2006 truck. Cabin Filters were stopped in 2002. No 2003-up GM truck has them, not even the Escalades.

In the 99-02 trucks, they were located in the main HVAC ducting under the glovebox area on the right side of the truck.

There are actually two of them. And they are a pain in the ass to change.

I dont have any pics handy of the 01-02 HVAC, but here's the procedure:

Remove the two screws holding the black passenger side silencer cover up (DO NOT remove the one over the tranny hump --you'll thank me for that)

You'll see the "L" shaped filter cover right in front of you, to the left of the fan module. The "hinge" is in the front, up high behind the glovebox. The retaining screw is toward the back. It should be silver. Remove that screw and pull the cover down and toward you. It will come right out.

The filters are behind that cover. Remove the first one by pulling it straight down. The second comes out by pulling it toward you first, then down like the first one.

Vacuum out the HVAC ducting, and the installation of the new filters is opposite of removal. Should take you about 20 minutes.

I've never cleaned or changed mine b4...will it have less strain on the compressor not needing to cut on and off so much if it is that dirty?

If they are really dirty and clogged (which I imagine yours are) then your A/C and heat performance would've probably dropped off. After you change them, you'll probably notice an improvement.

Watch out when you pull them out, 10 LBS of dirt and wasps will fall out.

Do it, you will enjoy to benefits. I have allergies and I'm a smoker. Since installing Tom's kit I dont have itchy eyes and sneezing while in my truck with the windows up. Also, noproblem and rolloffhill (both non-smokers) rode in my truck and both of them said they couldnt even tell that I smoke in it.

You got noproblem and rolloffhill's OK? That means a lot to me. Thanks.
