I took my 05 with 800 miles in and it had a bad injector. I didn't notice it so I am thinking it must have been bad from factory. I have the Predator to correct my speedo with 35's. Is there a way that the Predators diagnostic abilities could show me that an injector is bad? How? thanks, mick

From my understanding (how little of it I have) the TechII is the only tool that can test the injector balance rates.

lo9tsa things(predator included) can check balance rates and it is a indicator sometimes of injectors going to ****. But sometimes you will have great balalnce rates and they will still be going to **** on you:mad:
It can tell you or help point you to them being bad but it cant tell you if they are good. Make sense?

Told you I have very little understanding of these things. I guess I just need to get out and play more.

I see in your sig that you have a rancho suspension and 35's, I was wondering what size of lift thatyou have on it?

I thought Rancho made just one lift, 4".

I understand that the Predator will show balance rates. But the balance rates can be in spec, and the injectors ARE on their way out.
Tech II's are the better way to go, for checking injectors?

no, your balance rates can show fine via a predator, tech 2, snapon scanner, master tech, circus midget with a mullet ect. and you still may have injector problems. Bad balance rates mean a bad injector but a bad injector can still have good balance rates, depends whats wrong with it. My balance rates were great and my injectors were ****......
Edit: yes a real scanner is better since you can look at other things and determin easier if the injector is going south. I couldnt build sufficent rail pressure for instance. Balance rates = :) but injectors = :(
Furthur Edit: if you look at your predator and it show bad balance rates then you know you have a problem, but if it shows OK you still may have a problem.

Kinda thought something similar. But I am not an expert in this stuff. So not too sure.

So what advantages if any does a TechII have in diagnosing injector problems over say a predator or another tool?

thanks for the info guys. 87bandit, it has 5 inches of blocks in the back and easily fits 35's. It has to lift the truck at least 6 inches. Had the same thing on my 03 chevy 8.1 with 4" blocks. The 03 would slightly rub when doing heavy off-roadin. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/mick14/2004-11-18_141500_new2.jpg
