My company just picked up an 04 with 82k on the clock, and Im making up a list of things we need to do to it. The tranny fluid isnt all the that pretty and knowing the previous owner I doubt he every changed it. I run transyd in my personal truck and Im wondering if its worth the extra money to put it in a higher mileage tranny.

its better but it still needs changed like any other fluid. I am not sure if the truck is all stock that I would spend 200 dollars on fluid or 30 for the regular stuff.

Even if you don't go the Transynd route, I would at least do a complete (or as close to complete as you can get) system flush. There is a good write up on this in the DIY section.

I haven't switched to Transynd yet, but I plan on it. If it were me, I would spend the xtra cash for the best fluid...Chep insurance, especially when the truck will have to be reliable for work purposes.

I would, and change both filters, I know some one will say you don't need to change the sump filter unless you rebuild the trans, but its easy and doesn't cost a lot of $.

I just Changed mine out with Transynd And brought my temp down to 110
Spin on from a Allison dealer was 10 and the internal was 50 plus the oil at 30 a gallon 4 gallons will do ya and a little left over.

I have 113,000 on my truck with transyn in it. Also the change interval on transyn is 150,000 miles. I just change the spin on every oil change and top off the tranny.

If money allows put transyn it it.

are you guys using the hoot method to change over to transynd? or are you having somebody with a flush machine do it?

my buddy teaches at a tech school and just got a new tranny flush machine and said he'd flush mine for me. or just i just spend an hour or two and do it the "hoot" method??

I put transyn in mine when I re-built it with an SC IV. But when time comes to change the fluid again at 200,000 miles or so I will be doing it the hoot method.

Ok sounds good I just wasnt sure what kind of life to expect out of the thing, If its gonna take a dump at 120k from not being taken care of then I would just put the cheap stuff in.
