: looking at 08 gmc ,whats your opinion ?
douseabout#2 11-11-2007, 10:57 PM hay guys , been thinking about trading up to a 08 gmc and stopped buy a dealer to price one. I have looked at the Chevy 2500hd but no matter how long i look at the front end i just don't like it. I like the gmc and have deiced that is what i want. what i would like is a Sierra 2500hd 4wd ext cab, sle1. nothing to Fancy. the d/max motor ,Allison trans. the only thing extra is the uy2 trailering wiring for 5 wheel , v10 cold weather covers for the front grille. It gets pretty Darn cold in northern IL in the winter.the one thing i am not sure about is he added a heavy-duty auto locking differential for $350, i thought that was standard on 2500hd. I tow a 7500# boat. his msrp is 44,075. witch includes the $924 destination charge.this was just a look and see, with no number crunching. what do you think. I will be trading in my 2002 2500 hd d/a with 90,000 ms. I don't want to go through the hassle of selling it myself. one more ? . what is a gmsd . how and when is it used, do they half to honer it , and where do i get one.
thanks for your help.
z1000r 11-12-2007, 12:44 AM I dont know if any 07 Classics LBZ's are left in your area...I actually got the last one within an hour of my location (checked 4 dealers). You might want to steer clear of the new more emission strict DPF vehicles if you can.
howard_m18 11-12-2007, 11:16 AM DOUSEABOUT#2, here are your questions answered.
#1. A GMSD = (General Motors Supplier Discount) authorization number. It is a discount that comes out in the neighborhood of the invoice price of a vehicle. From that $ amount, all rebates are subtracted from that. It also is a NO -HAGGLE way to buy a vehicle as the GMSD $ AMOUNT is listed on each invoice.
#2. It is used by asking the dealer if he will honor a GMSD#. If he says yes, then you ask me or just post a request for a GMSD#. We have a couple of people that can get you a GMSD#. It is usd in the final paperwork when you are buying the vehicle. FYI,IT IS GOOD ON ALMOST EVERYTHING THAT GM MAKES & we can get you a GMSD# in about 5 mins., IF we exchange phone#'s. I have done a couple at the dealership by phone!!
#3. Do they have to honor it? Each dealer is self owned so it your job to ask the dealership if they will honor a GMSD#. Most DEALERSHIPS WILL DO A gmsd# sale BECAUSE it is a easy sale. It only becomes difficult when trade-ins are involved.
#4. I would check with your personnel Dept. at work to see if they qualify as a GM Supplier. If they do, then ask them how to get a #. It is also acquired from 1 of us on here & it is given to anyone that needs it. You could send me a e-mail so I can send you "My Info. Pack" Send me a e-mail to = howard_m18 at yahoo.com
netmaner 11-30-2007, 11:25 PM Know what you mean about the Chevy front end.
Invoice minus rebates is the deal you what to try for.
Mine was 45,005 - invoice 40054 - minus 1,000 rebate = 39054
I order mine and got what I wanted.

Meeko 12-02-2007, 09:15 AM New body for sure, dont settle on the old body style. DPF aint nothing to worry about.
jim87vette 12-16-2007, 01:23 PM I am looking to buy a new truck as well I just wonder how do they make any $$ off of a deal like this ? I was under the impression that they started making money above the invoice ? Just a little confused and I really want the best deal I can get . I am going to post a thread with some other questions , sorry to stray a bit .

Quick Q: I assume this GMSD is good on ordered vehicles too? Is the process that we need the number in advance of placing the order or when the truck comes in? I have a friend who's thinking of upgrading to an '08 GMC from her current '97 GMC 2500, and I told her she might be able to get into a no haggle deal (a lot of women are totally intimidated by the whole car buying process, and she's one of them -- this GMSD would sure be nice for her...)
