Went Into Limp Mode Today ... And 2 Hours Later Everything Was Ok. Pulled Dtc P0087 "Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low" What Do I Do Now? Is this a problem?

could be something blocking the pickup in the tank, could be fuel fitler, fuel filter housing (has a checkball in it), or jsut w/your programmer the engine demanding more fuel that can be delivered.

how many miles are on your fuel filter. dont listen to the computer if it says it still has 50% life left. if it hasnt been changed recently change it.

My 06 LLY went into limp mode today about 4 miles from home while pulling my 5th wheel. I was able to get back home and found the DTC code of P0087. The DTC said I still had 23% filter life left. Mileage on the filter was approximately 11K miles. Over the last 2 weeks I have purchased about 20 gals. of 20% biodiesel made from Soy Bean, for the first time. I checked out the code on DP and installed the new filter I had in the truck. I cleared the DTC code and the truck came up running fine. I continued on my 100 mile trip without another error code. Don't know if the filter was overdue or the biodiesel broke up some gunk in the tank.

Biodiesel is killing all of our line trucks so we stopped using it. It seems to clog everything up.

change the fuel filter and if it doesn't go away take it to the dealer and have the check the fuel rail regulator sensor(or something like that)but you really need to do a lift pump to help out you CP3 Fuel pump since your truck has a tune on it.

Today I got a DTC error code of P0087 while excellerating to getting on the highway. My truck did not go into limp mode this time so it must have been a momentary gremlin. I had changed my fuel filter approximately 400 miles ago and had 20% soy bio on board. The temperature was 20 degrees F. I'm done using biofuel, its causing fuel system problems. Being 20% green now commands a $3.60 per gal. price.

x2 on changing the fuel filter and then see if it happens again...are you using bio

I didn't change the fuel filter again, it has only been 400 miles since the last change. I had about 1/2 tank of 20% biodiesel. I cleared the error code and fueled up with 15 gallons of straight diesel. I'm going to try it with the deluted bio-fuel for the next day or so to see how the fuel system performs.

The bio I was running gelled up around 20 degrees and went into limp mode. I may be wrong but I think you need to change the fuel filter and dilute the bio - that is what I did and had no problems since. I am debating adding a small amount of bio for lubricity and I run an additive in every tank to help with the gelling and lubrication.

I have never tried biodiesel but my filters only seem to last about 9k miles before I can start to notice a decrease in power.

If you go into any of the Biodiesel web site they tell you if your new running it, it will break lose buildup created by petro diesel and clog filters. I started running B20 when my truck had less that 10K mi. Never had a problem and my filters are about 25% at 10K. I do not run B20 during Dec - Feb here because it will get below zero and could gel if you are not running a good anti-gel. I believe Power Service recommends 32 oz for 50 gal with B20. I will run B5 if I can find it here in Northern Utah.
