Do dealers void warranty on vehicles if owners change their own fuel filter and do the oil changes if they keep the receipts?

NO.....if there is an issue involving maintenance you may have to provide receipts of the fluid, filters etc... to prove you were changing it but I doubt you would ever have to do even that....unless they provide the maintenance for free they cannot void your warranty.

It costs $60 for a oil and filter change by them for Rotella dino. I can do synthetic myself for less. Same with fuel filter somewhere between 50 and 60 dollars.

I do all my own oil and filter changes and have done so for over 40 years. I save the receipts and the box top from the filter on which I write the date, mileage and brand and vis. of oil. I've never had a warranty issue, in fact many times at trade in time, while dickering, I show my packet of receipts to the dealer and get more money for my trade.

Nope! No way unless your dealership is a$$hole!

No. If that were the case, GM would have to provide you with maintenance free of charge while under warranty coverage.

I just took my wife's 2005 Xterra to the dealer for a whining noise, ended up being both secondary timing chains and tensioners. The cost would have been around $800, but they warranteed it with no questions asked. I did tell them I performed all of the maintenance on it and they could see I used quality filters(K&N). They didn't ask for any service records, even though, if they had I would have produced receipts, service dates, and milage when performed.
