has anyone removed the spair tire assembly. it looks like its just a bracket bolted up then the assembly which should come off pretty easy after that. Has anyone done this yet and can offer experience with ?

i have had mine down several times, and replaced stocker with my 315s. easy to do, pop the lock off the bumper (with your truck key), insert the square tube lever and crank with tire iron. there is a plate attached to a cable that holds the wheel in place

All you should have to do is remove the bolt and everything will drop out.
I had to replace one on my 2000, it was all rusted up, and the cable would not
lower. Good luck.

I didn't think there was that much room in there. I take it it's a pretty tight fit? How tight is it?

Yes very easy to remove, simply drop the spare tire, then remove the one bolt and the whole assembly just rotates up and out!! I tried to fit my 315 under there, but it hung too low, that's why I removed mine. Again, very simple to remove, have fun!!!

very tight fit with a 35, had no more than 1/2 inch all the way around and less with the wiring harness on the hitch. I have the banks exhaust, not sure if it would be any different with stock exhaust pipe. you can defintely tell it is there, shows a bit more rubber than the stock spare.

Took it off. Put in trash. Undercoated holes. Thing ain't no good with 37" tires. Leaves the end looking clean and everything easy to get to. Just my .02.:D
