I have an 01. After riding around in my wifes '04 Denali I really like the XM set up. Did not realize just how much Public radio DJ's babble about really stupid junk. So with that said, I am considering adding the Delphi XM radio set up. Of course my concern is never using my standard radio again however I have the built in CD player which I do use. I am not fond of having 2 radios. Has anyone installed one yet? Do they make an indash unit that fully replaces the factory Cd/Radio? I really like the fact that the Delphi portable radio allows you to plug the XM head right in and then you have XM radio anywhere you go.

Inputs/Comments would be appreciated.

I have the original Sony Plug and Play Xm radio in my truck. The Delphi SkyFi is pretty much the same concept with it allowing you to remove the reciever and move it to another vehicle. I bought an extra cradle for my S-10 and the home kit plugged into my THX reciever in the house. So I can pretty much listen to the XM wherever I want with one subscription.

I have the XM radio directly connected to my stock head unit via a GM-AUX9 adaptor (which I htink someone has one for sale in the classified section) It plugs into aux. tape deck port on the back of the stock head unit and gives you a set of RCA jacks then to plug whatever you want into them. I just run a chord from that RCA jack to my XM radio Cradle. Hit the AUX button on the radio and you have direct feed in from the XM radio. No FM modulation. Same thing on my S-10. The original CD player in the truck still works. If you have Onstar, you may need some other type of connector. I see you have an 2001, mine is a 2002 so the radios should be similiar.

I also have a Dell Jukebox that I can plug in the same way and have 5000 songs at the touch of my hands.

Another possibility is the new Delphi MyFi completly portable XM radio. Has a built in antenna and able to record up to 5 hours of music directly off the XM radio. No need to buy anything else with this puppy. Build in FM modulator, or direct feed out and no cradle to buy. Pretty slick setup, but costly at $350.

I chose XM or Sirius basically because of the NASCAR channel. All races are broadcast live. Good wide selection of music too. And I think it is $3/month cheaper than Sirius.

Gm sells the oem xm receiver mounting bracket wiring harness and antenna at your local stealer or you could look for a totaled new truck and see if you can get at the part there then call xm and have it activated for your vehicle. later jd

ps i knowthe part number is on this site somewhere!
