Hi, I am confused as to the different prices on the trucks that you can get. Is GMS the same as the supplier price? Im trying to figure what is the cheapest way for me to get a truck and I saw the invoice price and the GMS price of a truck I am interested in. The GMS was lower than the invoice. Is GMS the price I would pay if I got a certificate from someone on here? or is that the employee price and "my" certificate price is higher than that?

Employee (GMS) pricing is cheaper than the supplier pricing. You can't get employee pricing unless your a direct family member or know a pretty high up GM exec, as they have a few they can give out.

9 out of 10 times though, you can work out a better deal w/ a dealer than the supplier pricing offers (roughly $200 below invoice). ESPECIALLY if you have a GM card rebate... as you can't use your rebate w/ supplier pricing.

Nobody around here will give me a deal better than 500 over invoice, so it sounds like a certificate is the way to go then, thanks

ordered mine for $100 over invoice, and all rebates to me and a $3500 gm card rebate. I just hope incentives go up before it gets here.

Out of curiosity, what prcentage of the MSRP was the invoice. That is, the window sticker (real) MSRP with no funny money like advertising fee or doc fee.

Wow.... are you kidding me? Have you looked at some of the smaller town dealerships around you? I use to just walk in and offer $100 over invoice, and never had a dealer give that a second thought. Anymore though, I can usually get them down 3-400 below invoice.

You may ask them to throw in some cash certificate to may the deal better for you. The dealers have them through GM, they just don't want to offer them out, as they cash them in themselves.

Your not in KS are you?... I talked w/ a dealership about a classic model back in July that had a specific truck I was looking for. I'm in OK, and there weren't any here. Only one in TX and one in KS. So I called them and tried to work the deal out over the phone. Told them I'd drive the 800 mile trip that Sat. if we could reach the right deal, otherwise I was gonna buy an LMM locally. I had already pulled the invoice on that truck and faxed it to him to let him know that I knew what the invoice was. I originally had tried speaking w/ a sales manager, but he pushed me off to a salesman. This salesman came back w/ an offer of $1K over invoice. I laughed and told him I could walk onto any lot here and offer $100 over invoice on any truck and make a deal in 30 secs. And the fact that I was gonna have to drive 8 hours when I could go to Dallas which was only 2.5 hours away and get the same truck.... well he should come back w/ a heck of a deal. He said... well I'm sorry, but we don't sell any vehicle for less than $1K over invoice. I laughed and said ok... you probably don't sell many at all then. But thanked him for his time and went out to a small town dealer here and got my LMM for $600 below invoice before rebates, but w/ some cash certificates.

Just keep looking around. $500 above invoice is pretty high. You should at least be able to get to invoice. Of course on a $50K purchase, that $500 isn't really jack... so it might not be worth haggling over.

Msrp 51855 Invoice no ad fee 46638 gms 45261 Supplier 47291 Dealer still makes about 3% on holdback so they have some room to work with yet, they were local and I don't mind working with them.

That's the right invoice, and the formula of .89 or .9 of MSRP still works. Yes, the dealer still makes his 3% of MSRP plus any hidden sales incentive rebates that GM may have for him. Frankly, I have a hard time understanding why a dealer would not find it easy to sell at invoice, at least on an order, when it is in the door and out with only some paper work to do — while making over $1500 on that deal. Naturally, if the dealer can sell every truck in his allocation at a much higher price, he is foolish to sell at invoice. But GM truck sales have been down compared to last year — so he can't. If I were now buying, I would insist on invoice with all of the rebates coming off of that — or walk (run). And giving your local $100 to keep him happy is smart.
