It dont matter if i star or stop there is a bump in the rear end like a u joint is goin out but they are ok. It feels like something is loose and is getting worse. I dont think its the spring slap everyone is talking about. Check your cross member bolts on the tranny.. I had it were the bolts in the trany support got loose and was making a bump/clunking noise. or could be a or b trim valve getting a little sticky in the tranny.. Just some thoughts..

Sounds like the slip yolk off the rear of the tranny...they tend to dry out and start clunking...had mine replaced with a nickel plated one...clunk is gone.

How many of you have the START / STOP = CLUNK?
Is there a permanent fix?
I have made an appt. with my dealer next week to check it out, But if it is only a temporary fix why bother?
whate do you guys think?
My 92' had the same issue, but at least it had a zerk on the slip yolk:)

The start/stop bump on my truck is associated with the two piece drive line and the mating slip yoke. I lube mine around every 5-7k miles. I too wish there was a more permanent fix.

Also I've noticed that when it's cold under 40F the bump is non-existent no matter if the yoke is lubed or not. Must be a tolerance thing that is just slightly off.
