I started up my pickup after dropping off some clutch weights for my sled, started it up and started to move and noticed that my radio wasnt giving me any sound... WTH i was listening to a CD so i push back to radio and still nothing...What the? shut down/restart no difference....Everything else seems to be all systems go...Radio lights up and pushing different buttons everything seems to change just no sound...Got home, finally found 2 radio (radio and radio amp) fuses in the hood box, but neither were blown...
Is there inline fuses someplace??
Like i said i was listening to a cd when i shut it off and was working great...
Unlike alot of people my age(20) i dont have any fancy aftermarket radio stuff, all stock, and i cant believe i blew my speakers since i never put the sound over 1/3...
Of course i got a nice rd trip tomorrow morning... -:t
Edit-incase it matters, my radio is just the stock cd radio. No tape player, bose or xm...

Sometimes the radio will just do that. Not sure why but mine has done it several times. All I had to do was cycle the key on and off a few times and it has not done it since.. However I do have the Bose, XM, CD radio...

Thanks for the reply GMC, i just went out to get something out of it, and tried the key....sure enough got collective soul's counting the days playing....I wonder if it has anything to do w/playing a cd when shutting off and opening the door with it still playing..ive notice numerous times when playin a cd and shut it off that when i open the door it kinda cuts out real quick, then comes back and then finally off in a span of 2sec...

Fancy electronics these days...

I have noticed that when I am listening to a CD that I can open the door and get out after turning the key off and when I get back in the CD will be about 15 secs ahead of where it was.. WEIRD!!!

The fobs are programmed seperate.

You can have the HVAC, seat position and radio or cd programmed to 1 and have a diffrent set of programs for the other.

There is a TSB for no sound out of the radio. I had this happen a few times. Finally had the radio replaced and it has not happened in the last 12,000 miles. The TSB calls for either a reprogram or radio replacement. I believe this is only occuring with those trucks which have the Bose system. Maybe someone with access to the TSB's can post it? Might already be posted, but I did not look. Hope this helps.

I had a stainless exhaust tip welded on at a reputable muffler shop here just after I got my rig new, got in to leave and......NOTHING!!! Man! Was I pi#$%ed off! Guys said...'Wow! Never had that happen before!' Checked every fuse we could find. None blown. Owner was gone at the time so they said come back next day and see about getting it fixed. Well, couple of miles down the road, after turning it on and off a few times......BING!!!....there it was...perfect. Could there be a self-setting breaker????
This IS the 6-disc Bose.

No other fuses to find. Unless you have a system with a separate amplifier, it's usually a bad radio.
If you do have a system with an amp, an anomaly within the amplifier/radio operating systems may cause this condition. Go to the dealer and reference bulletin #02-08-44-020B It may possibly be repaired with a software update.

Check for audio at the rear seat audio controls (if you have them) through the head phones. If there is, then the radio is producing audio. (amp problem)

If it's out of warranty, repair might still be an option, there are several companies throughout the US which do the repairs, and your local dealer can give you the info or send it out for you.

If you have audio from the rear headphone jacks, then the Bose amp is either muted or not turned on. The head unit can control output of the Bose amp with two seperate wires. One is an "amp turn on" wire. The other is an "amp mute wire". This takes a few minutes, but it could save a trip to the dealer... Open the center console lid and unscrew it. Then basically unscrew every screw you see in the center console compartment. Dont forget the ones under the rubber mat in the bottom of the compartment. Now the plastic bucket should lift out and you will see the rear end of the amp (look for the aluminum cooling fins). Play a CD and jiggle the two amp connectors and see if anything happends. I know the amp turn on wire is pink but i forget which color the amp mute wire is. If nothing happends and you are not ready to give up, you could also pull your radio out and check the connectors. Double check the amp fuse too. I beleive its 30 amps. Even if the amp fuse is blown, the radio will still work fine! (theyre on seperate circuits) If nothing works, then its probably a head unit problem (i have never heard of a "premium" Bose amp going bad. I HAVE however heard of quite a few "Luxury" Bose amps going bad...the "luxury" Bose amps are the amps that go into the Escalades, Denalis, and early H2's...those vehicles' Bose systems' are a lot different than the Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/Silverado/Sierra Bose systems) Hope that helps!!!
