: Edge vs. Bully dog
Guzzler 11-08-2007, 12:35 PM i was going in to buy the edge juice with attitude, and the guy at the counter todl me about the bully dog,(tripledog outlook combo)and said it was a better chip. its highest setting is somethign liek 240 hp, which i do not need at least not yet. i just want a basic up grade but like the edge juice w/attitude, heard morew about it? Is one better the the other? The BD is $40 more?
1lowdiesel 11-08-2007, 12:50 PM i've had both adn personally the edge blows the bully dog out of the water. it has more adjustability and more saftey features and as for the 240hp you will never see that out of it.
firegrizz7 11-21-2007, 07:36 PM edge all the way
idk my patna has a bullydog on his 6.0 and I like it.... it blows lots of smoke
codythom 11-28-2007, 08:39 AM x2 on Edge. I had both, and the edge felt smoother, it had more power, and the bullydog programmer made my truck sound like an old dodge with the timing rattle.
luv737superpro 11-28-2007, 09:45 AM Ive had the edge on my dmax for almost two years, and it has performed perfectly through those two years. I "raced" a ford with a bullydog and a superchips on it and the closest he got to me was .30 seconds in the 1/4 mile in towing setup. I know some have had issues with the edge, but mine had performed perfectly for the time ive had it and i wouldnt trade it for anything
ickman99 11-28-2007, 01:39 PM Same here, I have been very happy with my edge.
hrdcoretruckin 11-28-2007, 03:42 PM i vote bullydog...its what i got runs mid 14s stock tranny on extreme mode
TigerMax 11-28-2007, 04:10 PM I have the Bullydog with the PMT. I also loaded the Crazy Larry tune on it. It runs like a scalded dog and blows lots of smoke. I could not put up with the reliability issues the Edge had. Edge had a bit more programability as far as defueling etc but the BD has all the safety stop gaps the Edge had.... plus it has not left me broken down on the side of the road ripping crap from under the hood just to see if the truck would run again.
Dirtymax81 11-29-2007, 12:09 AM both systems have pro's and cons.. and each person will tell you something different
Arcing 11-29-2007, 12:42 AM I have the Bullydog with the PMT. I also loaded the Crazy Larry tune on it. It runs like a scalded dog and blows lots of smoke. Triple Dog DOES NOT have the defueling safety the Edge has with transmission slippage, and on EGT temps it just jumps the power down to a lower level. (dial in 1200F and watch your power slide towards when you get on it).
The Edge is smoother overall. (codythom said Edge has more power? Ummm, NOT IN MY WORLD)
I too run the BD's Triple Dog/Outlook purely for reliability issues after 3 sets of Edge boxes.
And the third reason is: You can take the Triple Dog programming off, and use the Outlook to monitor EGT's and a bunch of other items.(good reason for the pyro probe in the manifold, instead of K probe wires hanging loose at the dealers)
And one of the moderators has had good luck with HyperPac (which looks nice)
Durbin 11-29-2007, 07:11 AM I ran several programmers and boxes on my 05 lly. i loved my edge w/ attitude. great adjustability and with the low boost fueling you decided whether you wanted it to smoke or not and with it turned all the way up it would roll it out. i had a triple dog and it was alright but not near wat the edge was. i ran a 9.1 with the edge and only a 9.4 on the triple dog in the 1/8 mile, both turned all the way up and defueling off on the edge. at the time the reps at bullydog told me crazy larry wasn't available for the lly's and probably wouldn't be. i could load the crazy larry version on the programmer but it didn't give any performance increase over extreme. some have had problems with edge but when you think about it every company has problems and they probably sell more units than anyone, so of course you will hear more about them. i would take the edge hands down.
Guzzler 12-06-2007, 12:39 PM Thanks for the help. I went out and bought the edge juice with attitude, and i ahve oonly had it oin for two days but on level 1. Way smoother then the demo bully dog i had and doesnt make it soulod like a dodge!!! level 1 feels equal to level2 on bully dog
Very happY!!!,
One more question, when i adjust my tire size does that change the speedometer, and miles on odometer or just on the attitude it self???
ickman99 12-06-2007, 06:02 PM The tire size only effects the juice display not the speedo.
GMC2500HD 12-06-2007, 07:08 PM Bully Dog...
MbpsychoMax 12-06-2007, 08:29 PM I have the Bully dog .................free up grades online is a plus
BIGLIFTEDDIESEL 12-06-2007, 11:58 PM i vote bullydog...its what i got runs mid 14s stock tranny on extreme mode
^^^^ hey were you the guy selling the banshee on ebay.....????
66flh 12-07-2007, 12:01 AM I've been happy for the most part with my Hot Edge.I tried the Bullydog and it seemed to have way too much timing.Lotsa rattle.Edge shifts better in my opinion too.
hahler2 12-10-2007, 01:07 PM I have the Bully Dog PMT and I love it. If I can keep my foot out of it on performance level I can get 17 to 18 mpg easy. My brother in law has the Edge Juice and it's a nice unit. I think either one is a great deal I just liked some of the features of the PMT better like the ability to adjust the speedometer for tire size and read and clear codes. Plus the PMT is more reliable then the Edge and has free online updates.
