Yesterday I installed the high idle mod on my 2500HD. I put a switch on the dash to turn the high idle on/off. However when I went to op test it out the wires started smoking. Does anyone know a good area to tap the power to the on/off switch? I followed kennedydiesels.com website but for some strange reason I can't get it to go. Help.

dont need a switch on 02. Just tap the wire from the high idle to the green wire on the brake switch. Done deal

Smoke, Yikes. I hope you didn't do any serious damage. You better retrace your wire and make sure it is not pinched or shorted and also triple check that you have it in the right hole. There is no reason it should smoke. Even if you hooked it up to ground or another wrong power source there is no reason for the wire to short dead. Find out where the short is before you proceed!

dmaxallitech - which green wire? The green/white or green/black? Is this right off the brake petal itself? Thanks.
I was just at the dealer getting a price to install the High Idle. $150.00 and he said depending on the wiring of the '02 he may be able to install a rotary switch with the settings or if its the older wiring its a toggle switch and control through the cruise. How hard is it to install yourself?

Green/white at the brake pedal.
EMSi - very easy. Save your $150 http://www.kennedydiesel.com/docs/HIGH%20IDLE%20INSTALL%20FINAL.htm
