:DHowdy...new here
Anybody ever hear of the Chev s-10 diesel of 1983-85 ? I am thinking of looking for one to buy and fix up if they are available.
I have never seen one before.
I hear they are underpowered, but that's ok for what I want.
Think they have a 2.2L engine.
Thanks, Pete

I have never seen one. Pups are much more common and can be had with a turbo diesel

I know a guy who had one, he retired it with 650K miles and a rusted out frame.

I think a cool conversion would be the Isuzu 3.9L NPR 4cyl engine backed by a 700R4 in an S-10. Better acceleration than the v6 gasser and 30MPG.
In addition, these engines use GM accessories so the converion would be relatively straight forward.
Heres a link for the engine to tranny adapters.

Does anyone know the weight of the Isuzu 3.9 engine? I wonder if it is comparable to the Cummins 4BT? The cummins is 100 lbs heavier than a big block Chevy.

I don't know the weight, but per the link on my last post, The 3.9 replaced the 4.3 V6 in a SWB 1/2 ton and did not touch the front springs. I doubt that would be possible if it was the weight of a BBC.

S10. I know he replaced the manual trans a few times, and it had several water pumps, but no injector pumps or internal engine stuff.
