2004 Kodiak 4500 crew cab hauler body. We transport yachts and powerboats.

This unit has been towed 4 times in 500 miles. Engine RPMs drop to 2200 and won't pull.

5 dealerships, along with GM tech. support, can't figure it out. Of course, they can't make it display the same problem when they have their diagnoatic equipment hooked up. They've made an unnecessary turbo. change and two fuel filter changes.

Can anyone recommend a decent aftermarket code scanner that we can keep hooked up until it goes into "limp mode" again? Then we can give GM the numbers. Scanner has to display the numbers, not your hinky "count the flashing light" type.

Thanks.<!-- / message -->

I purchased an Acctron OBDII scanner at Sears for $120.. just connect it, hit read and the code is displayed, you can erase it or not. As long as the computer writes it, it will read it. Its hand held. Not to mention I have used it on numorous cars and its paid for itself a few times over.

Thanks, Biano

Can it stay hooked up as we're running or can it only be used while stationary?

Thanks

I have always used it with just key on, but I don't think it will hurt if its left on or you suspect it may happen down the road, I can read the documents tonight and find out for you if you like. The dealers leave theirs hooked up while driving as well so it should work theoretically

edit.. here is the one I have and I will check to answer your question...
