Does anyone know where you can get a heat transfer pad for the PMD? or have a GM part Number?

If it matters to you, I didn't use a pad when I relocated my FSD to a heat sink behind the grille. I used arctic silver.

Any heat sink compound would do but I already had some arctic silver because I think it's the best. I also put a small bead of silicone seal around the FSD where it meets the heat sink to keep any water out.

I managed to get a few samples of a super-efficient sheet type transfer pad material called MicroFaze from a salesman for this (http://www.aosco.com/microfazea.html) company. I've been using it on an FSD cooler I bought from John Kennedy and it seems to transfer the heat extremely well. My cooler is sitting inside the cab on the top of my tranny hump til I decide where to mount it for max airflow cooling.

Did you knock off the annodize coating from your FSD cooler, annodize is an insulator, I think you would get better heat xfer if annodize were gone where the FSD contacts the cooler plate, or the paste or pad.

No, I just mounted mine up - your idea that you might get better transfer with a bare aluminum surface as opposed to an anodized surface is interesting but I'm no metallurgist so can't say whether it would make any difference.
Any Rocket scientists want to chime in on this?

Get the pad from your local fuel injection shop P/N 30598 $4.80 List price. Would not recommend any substitute as it works extremly well.

Use brass screws & washers to help in the heat transfer.

Hey Diesel Pro, Sounds great BUT there ain't no local fuel injection shop down in these parts. Closest one is 100 miles away and their not a real big shop either. That why I asked this question, I was looking for online ordering help.

I used the thin stock pad that comes with the PMD and installed my PMD behind the grill and have never had it heat up at all. I had tried a heat transfer paste but didn't like it and removed it.

I used heatsink grease from radio shack and it works fine. I put my FSD onto a heatsink salvaged out of a blown car audio amplifier. I also drilled out the mounting holes on the FSD to 1/4" all the way through and used some 1/4-20 bolts with big fender washers to attach the FSD to the heatsink.

4 months and approx 7500 miles and nary a hiccup.

(total build cost ~$11.00) :ro)
