I ha nitrogen put in my tires today. They say milage and all goes up.

Dont really necessarily know how mileage will go up, but I think the air pressure being constant and not fluctuating could make this happen, but I dont know how. But good luck with that

I ha dit put in 2 days ago.Havent had time to check the stuff they told me yet.Ill check when i go on my trip. Some of the 08s i looked at have nitrogen from the factory.

The tire runs a little cooler, and the nitrogen stays more consistant, and doesn't drop pressure over time like regular air does. Not really sure how much better mileage you will get with it.

I don't think the fuel milage is going to change, but you should get more milage out of your tires if that is what you are referring to...

I filled mine with helium and get 'way better fuel economy. The only downside is that I have to tie it down when I park for the night.

J/K. Nitrogen will maintain a more consistent pressure, as stated above.

Now that you have nitrogen in your tires, how are you going to adjust the tire pressure for different loads in/behind the truck?

I found I get the best mileage with my own custom blend of gasses. I run 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% other "top secret" trace gasses.;)

Unless they completely vaccumed out the tires untill the were sucked down to the rim prior to filling, or purged them with filling and draining multiple times, there is a decent percentage of regular air in there anyway. So adding a little more for pressure adjustments wont change it much. As we all know, regular air is comprized mostly of nitrogen anyway.

Personally, I run winter air in my tires year round.

I had nitrogen put in my tires before my trip to Alaska. I didn't notice any fuel savings (didn't expect to). I was more interested in the claim that the tires would hold their pressure longer. Since I basically had the same pressure over the course of the trip, I guess the claim is correct. As for the claims of less corrosion, I can't say. I have steel rims, but I don't have enough miles for corrosion to be an issue yet.

You too? That's the same blend I run.

According to "A Gore", my tires are filled with 75% N2, 18% O2 and 15% CO2, 12% cow farts, 10% pollution and 7% ozone destroying CFC's.

I'm not sure if it's true, but heck the guy that invented the internet can't be wrong, can he?

I've 'switched over' to #1 winter air here.........replaced the filler caps with un-obtanium high pressure caps, even went with the winter tire gloss for a complete winter makeover.

I would have to bet nitrogen cost you a few extra $$ BUCKS x 4 tires. That mans still smiling even after you drove away, Did you get that milage thing in black in whtie on paper. OOO no brun outs PLEASE

I saw no mileage difference whan I went with Nitrogen versus air.

you mean 90+% vs 78% unless you put tubes in your tires.

I'm going to fill mine w/ CO, that way when they steal the valve cores it'll slow them down :D

I'm gonna have to try me some of that Special Blend mentioned here. Sounds very exotic!

I'm in CAL. Winter air cost more than Nitrogen... and the EPA is working on outlawing summer air:mad:.

Hell, if you guys in SoCal would put smog in your tires you'd have cleaner air. :D

But then it take an act-of-Congress to lower the Tire pressure when not towing...:(

My Impala sat for over 4 years with plain old air in the tires, and the lowest one was at 28 lbs. They started out at 32. I hear the claim that the pressure stays longer with N2, but I haven't seen any of my tires go down with air if they don't have a leak somewhere.

Classic Snake Oil is what Nitrogen for tires is.

You guys are missing out. I fill up with 8000ft altitude air. Its the greatest stuff around except for the air they sell at the oxygen bar on top of Pike's Peak. That stuff is supposed to be the best.

Oxygen bars... what the hell.

Air pressure may stay more consistent in really cold temps (for those who are lazy and don't check their air pressure on a regular basis) but it's a pain in the *ss to have to go back to a dealer to top up on nitrogen...especially when I have a perfectly good compressor in the garage.

How much does it cost to get nitrogen? I'm not going to get it, I was just wondering how much these guys are making on this sham.

Belle tire in Michigan doesn't charge when they mount the tires. If you bring tires in to have them changed to nitrogen, there's a charge, but I don't know what it is.

My "regular" luxury bus customers, who pull stacker trailers which are border line overloaded and have been inquiring about this issue for a while, have been told by our Michelin field reps not to put nitrogen in their 22.5's. They state the tire just takes longer to heat up, but under load and traveling, they still get to the same temp. Our Michelin reps advised us against putting nitrogen in their tire, therefore saving us the cost of set up....I love it!

In theory Helium could give a slight increase in mpg. The theory being it weighs less and causes a lower rotational mass.
