I have a couple of different questions about changing fluids.

1. Is the 80w-90 schaeffers gear oil ok for my rear diff? I'm pretty sure the 75w-90 is stock, but seems like they would be close enough. I want to try out the schaeffer oil but that's the closest thing they have to the stock fluid spec.

2. On the first gear oil change should I take the cover off the pumpkin and clean everything out?

3. What do you guys do with old gear oil and Trans fluid? I know where the motor oil recycling is but I don't know of any place that takes other fluids.

If they take used motor oil, I would imagine they would take tranny and rear end fluid also. I know when we get rid of our oil and other fluids it all get's dumped into the same tank.

use the 741 fluid for replacing your OEM stuff.

Thanks! I would never have seen that. I wonder why they don't list it under gear oil on their website.
