: My new 6.2/ turbo questions

Just finished bolting together a new drive train to go in my 83 Land Cruiser wagon. It's
an 82 6.2 diesel and NV4500 tranny.
I got a line on a great deal on a Banks turbo setup, but looks now there is a possibility there isn't enough
room in the engine compartment on the passenger side for the turbo. Got all kinds of room at the rear of the engine by the firewall. Anyone make a Turbo kit that mounts at the rear like I've seen on some Fords?

I've never owned a vehicle with a 6.2 in it, so just curious if it would have enough
power to sustain 70 MPH interstate speeds towing a 3500# trailer? Gears are 3:70,
truck wighs 4350 lbs.
Thought I would get some opinions before I install this engine without a Turbo.

Thanks!

I think you can use a Hummer or Van 6.5 turbo setup if you have enough firewall clearance. I have seen some of these on Ebay. I have a M1008 with 4.10 gears and a J code 6.2 and NV4500 combo. I have towed a 5500lb. trailer and it did OK on level ground but I lost quite a bit of speed on hills. I installed a set of 6.5 turbo injectors and turned the fuel up 1/4 turn. That seemed to help some. I bought a 6.5 GM5 turbo and a Duramax intercooler and will be installing it this winter.

I have a ATS turbo (not yet installed) for my 83' 6.2 "J" and basically sits above the valve cover on the passanger side.

The 6.5 Van turbo setup requires a whole new engine, block and heads are different, plus you would have to invent a new intake and cut a hole in the firewall to fit the turbo and downpipe.

Shoot banks an email, ,they should have an application guide to say whether or not it will fit www.bankspower.com, now if it's a matter of can it be made to fit, anything is possible right amount of perseverance,
