: Anyone have some under bumper PMD mount pics?
coinball 11-06-2007, 05:06 PM I'm about to mount my SSDiesel PMD cooler along the passenger frame rail, between the bumper and skid plate. It actually fits like it was supposed to be there; the heatsink fins are right behind the opening for the tow hook, and the PMD is covered from stones & road junk by the rest of the air dam.
I'm curious if anyone else has done this, and I just want to see some other ideas before I extended my harness tonight.
dhjunkie 11-06-2007, 08:51 PM I mounted mine behind the bumper, behind the license plate area. This way it is protected from bumper bumping and also has a lot of air flow around it. My pictures are in a thread somewhere on here. Try a search on pmd mounting and I will also post them in my garage.
wild willy 11-06-2007, 08:57 PM There is a pic in my garage of behind the bumper mount using a Heath 2WD kit.
coinball 11-07-2007, 01:07 PM Is the radiant heat from the radiator not a problem with the heath units mounted there?
I just redid my harness (added about 5') and bolted my SSDiesel FSD cooler on bottom of the frame up front for now, but I might just snag a nice 1/4" or 3/8" thick 12"x24" 6061-T6 piece of aluminum drill/tap for the FSD and bolt it up right behind the bumper there...
wild willy 11-08-2007, 03:18 AM No heat problem that I have noticed. The bumper nostrils focus forced air on the FSD and heatsync/mount plate. Been there for over 2 years without issues. Don't forget you need to bond the FSD to the heat sync for max heat transfer.
96GMC6.5L 11-08-2007, 06:17 AM You guys have any trouble with snow and stuff just sitting on it as well as salt from the roads and such, is it possible for the PMD to get too cold?
matuva 11-08-2007, 07:14 AM Never gets too cold, the colder it is, the better it is, that's the way electronic components go.
Took a long time for me to remember this basics, but now it is set back in memory...

Should work just fine.
acesneights1 11-11-2007, 02:01 PM for my 3500 but had to mount it differetly because of the meyers EZ Mount plow frame. I was never in love with it on the skidplate anyway as I cut firewood in the reseviors and there are alot of stumps sticking up.
9c1cap 11-12-2007, 10:39 PM Hey coinball I got the same heat sync....Relocated mine today. Took about ten feet of new wiring but thats goin the long way around. Its about in the safest spot I could find, and its still servicable (unless ya got fat arms!). Theres a couple more pics in my garage.

Juancho 11-14-2007, 06:48 PM Mine is also mounted behind the liscense plate between the bumper nostriles, exactlly where GM should have mounted it from the factory.
nickg 11-15-2007, 12:45 AM see post #5 for pics of my dual PMD mounted on the skid plate
