This place rocks with the information you can get!:ro) First, I'm so close to my first lift I can almost smell it:D I don't want to go too big...but also don't want to regret going to small. What about resell in the future? I'm leaning towards 4" and maybe rancho or pro comp. What is the air ride stuff all about. And second, How does the 04 LB7 compare with the older Duramax' and the LLY?

add ons are just for your personal enjoyment. dont expect to get your money back. No more than a 4". Fabtech is a nice choice

4" is perfect I have a superlift and it seems ok. It just fits under the garage door.

What is too Big? 6 inches and 35's add just about the perfect profile to a crew cab. Of course, it doesn't fit in the garage anymore. I can't reach my money at the ATM machine anymore :( and running boards, steps or nerf bars are an absolute must.-:t Nothing makes me happier than owning and driving that truck. ):h

Thanks for the input. 4" or 6" ?????still can't decide. I like the idea of getting into the garage though. Maybe just need a bigger garage! I did look at the superlift last night on line didn't see a 4"? But think for sure I want some of those Bilstein shocks. Will my 285s look small with a 6"?

Will my 285s look small with a 6"?YEP

TRIED SAVING MONEY BY USING THE STOCK RIMS WITH 285 FOR THE WINTER. REALLY BUGS ME NOW.

OH, AT FIRST I THOUGHT 6" WAS TOO HIGH... NOW NOT HIGH ENOUGH:D . STILL SHORTER THAN FORDS & DODGES WITH MINOR ADJUSTMENTS

I debated the same issue to death, I had the concearn about fitting in the garage also, but after consulting with some members here that had lifted their trucks, I decided to go with the 6'' RCD, but instead of putting 315/75's on like everyone else. I put 315/70's on which is the same as hummer takeoffs, they are a little shorter profile, but still worked out perfect. My onstar antenna bends back when I go in the garage, but it fits! I put the torsion bars back at stock settings so the front end doesent sit too high. All in all, Im extremely glad I went with 6 over 4.

I think lifts are all about what you want and need. I recently had the Rancho 4 inch installed with 285 tires. I am very happy with the ride and off road abilities of my truck, although lockers of some type will be in my future.

Go with the 6" and 35's you won't regret it. My last 2500HD had 4" and 33's and I like the 6'' much better. IMO if you go any higher the truck starts to become impractical.

Go with 6" RCD and 37's. To see what your truck would look like with these check my sig.

Oh, by the way, I know someone (me) selling this setup. All brand new tires now since the flat incident coming back from SEMA (lift,wheels/tires/spares all for sell)...

Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the pictures. I drive alot of miles. Like the 6",like the 4". Read a bad review for pro comp. Starting to like the CST but have to go to Euless texas to get it...Rancho for sure is in OKC. Anyone with something to say about BDS? Fine print on the warrenty reads.."If you are the original purchaser of any BDS suspension sytem and it breaks, we will give you a new part, period."

I would go with a 8" and 37's. This way you can run 10" wheels. Also it puts it closer the Fords with 6" lifts. You will want to change the gears for 37's.

I have a fabtech 6" with 315/75's on 10" wheels and I rub at full lock. I didn't regear I only installed a programmer and the power is great.

I tow at least 2 weekends a month and the 6" lift is fine. No issues at all compared to stock. I have a friend that has a 8" rcd and he also has no problems towing.

I can tell you the CST 6" ride is phenomenal. You do not need the bars cranked up at all and the difference in ride will come from which size and brand of tires you choose. I run 315/70-17 BFG ATko's and couldnt be happier. I also run 4 Fox remote resovoir shox up front and softened the rear leafs to bolt on a set of air bags out back. Air em' down for a factory ride and pump em up when you need the rig to work. The CST suspension comes at a premium but the end result is worth it. Check out www.cstsuspension.com Unfortunately you can't buy direct.

The RCD ride is also much better than stock. They use 4" rear blocks and raise the front 6" without any torsion crank. This makes the truck level and ride smooth. I think the bigger the tire sidewall (16") opposed to (18" or 20") will also make the ride smoother because the sidewall cushions the ride. RCD uses Bilstien shocks which also helps ride quality.
