heard a lot about the 6L90 being used, but i recall while back i heard something about a smaller version of the allison 1000 behind the 4.5. could this possibly happen?

i doubt it, i think the 6L90 is the tranny set to go behind it.

Didn't GM announce that they sold their shares or are getting out from Alison?

GM did sell Allison, mostly. They sold the heavy duty stuff, but chose to retain the light duty stuff(ie. 1000 series). They probably split it according to GVW or power rating, leaving GM free to develop transmissions for their light duty trucks as they please.

I don't think the 6L90 would hold the 6.6 Duramax. I'm not sure it will even hold the 4.5 after some of the tuners get ahold of this puppy. I will have one of these trucks as soon as they come out and see what can be done.
