: How to bottle fuel additive?

Hi all,

I am looking for some practical advice and how to, store and add whatever brand of fuel additive you use.

I try to be cost effective so I buy it in a gallon jug. Now I've tried a couple of different smaller containers, but I just don't like what I've found. Hell, I even have trouble with the one quart size bottles...as far as spilling or adding too much.

What do you all use? How do you do it? Pictures would be great too.

thanks

Try this from Heath.
Box of 24 and if you save the bottles you could use them again next time.

the additive i use is made localy, and you only add about 6-8 oz. per tank so i just have a 12oz empy brake fluid bottle that i keep behind the seat. I just fill up the bottle from the gal jug after i use it.

I use a funnel with 3oz and 5oz marks on it. I figure how much additive I need based on the amount of fuel I'm going to add, and round up to the nearest multiple of 3 or 5.

Thats what I am doing, I bought the case of 24. Next I will be buying it by the gallon.

Assuming a bio station isnt opened near me, then I will be switching to that.

Plastic bottles with caps (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=14953&product%5Fid=14907)
I use these to carry pre-measured doses of additive. They work well, don't leak, and I re-use them.

I like Bruns' idea, but if you have/use and 2stroke toys anyways, you could also get the Stihl 2 stroke oil pre-measure bottles... They come in 2.6 oz., 5.2 oz., 6.4 oz., 12.9 oz sizes... The 6.4's look perfect for what you're doing; they come individually, 6 to a pack, or 48 to a case. ~$2 ea, or less in quantity.

Pick up a 1 qt bottle of STABIL (for gas motors). Dump it out and rinse. Re-fill with your additive and squeeze the pre measured dose. When empty refill. The bottle fits nicely in the rear door pocket.

I save 20 oz water bottles. Let them dry with tops off. Add 8oz stanadyne and fill up with 2 stroke.

Go pickup a bottle of STIHL two-stoke 500 ml oil at your local lawn and garden equipment, dump the bottle in your tank. :) It has a level guide on the side of the bottle so you know how much your mixing.

I found that amsoil diesel concentrate has the best bottles I have found thus far. I bought six bottles, used them up and then re-filled them with diesel kleen which is what I normally use. Works good, no spilling.

I use Power Service, they have a big jug and a smaller one. When you buy bulk the bigger bottles are cheaper soooo........ I bought 3 or 4 of the smaller ones and refill them. They pour right in w/o any spillage.

Diesel concentrate? Is that like OJ concentrate? Just add water to reconstitute? I've got a few bottles of water concentrate, in case I ever blow a rad. hose...

Thanks all. I really appreciate the ideas and pictures. I loved the websites RFDEV. Interesting how we all have different ideas on what to add too.

It's getting cold and the Winter Blend is coming.

I bought case of 16 oz bottles (stanadyne), and split 1/2 into an empty one, then add the 2 cycle oil to that and they work just fine, no spills when filling... They do not leak when bouncing around in too box, either...

Heres a method I use. Go to your local co-op or Tractor Supply and buy the largest animal dosing syringe they have. It makes it easy to draw out exactly how much you want and did I mention its really cheap.

Wow, I forgot about those syringes! I used to use those as a kid on the farm...before they invented Supersoakers. Shoot water, or any liquid clear across the barn at a coworker. (Ha ha pun intended!)

That would sure cure my problem of putting in way too much and spending too much money.

Thanks for the idea.

I use a big "2 stroke oil" measuring syringe form wall mart and put my mixtures in old fuel injector cleaner bottels and wright whats in them on the cap.
Due to thermal expanion of vapors form some addtives you will want to use a filler to fill the container all the way up so it doesn't leak on hot days.
I use Vegetable oil as a filler to make my "power service" shots fill the volume of the container they are in.
I try to keep 2 bottles one for treating 15 gallons of fuel and another for treating 10 gallons of fuel.
