I posted this in the Drivetrain section but not getting any responses. Does anybody have a picture of the rear brake assembly 3/4 ton 8 lug? My shoes are not retracting after applying the brakes. I either put the springs in wrong or the hose is collapsed and not letting the fluid out. I copied what was there before but that may not have been correct. The brakes were done by a Lexus dealer before I bought the truck and promptly burned up, so no guarantee it was correct. The only diagram I can find if for a 1/2 ton and is slightly different.

Check the emergency brake cables, get someone to apply and release the emergency brake and you watch to see if the are moving freely.

The parking brake cables operate freely and release correctly.
My driveway is slightly inclined. If I release the parking brake the truck rolls. Use the regular brakes and the truck won't move. 10-15 minutes later the truck rolls normally. I know it is the rear brakes because the drums get hot while the rotors are normal temp.

Next I would look at wheel cylinder, rubber brake hose usually attached to the rear diff cover bolts and next master cylinder as a problem. Brake lines are normally rusted real bad but if possible work from the wheel cylinder then forward, crack the lines and see if brakes release. Some thing is holding the hydraulic pressure and by doing this you should be able to find what.

New wheel cylinders, new shoes, new spring kit. Drums are in good condition. While the brakes were holding, I cracked the bleeder screws to see if any fluid squirts out. It doesn't.
I'm down to collapsed hose or I put the springs on the wrong way. It is a lot easier to verify the springs. Easy stuff first before I go tearing into the guts of this.

Post a good pic of one side with the drum off so we can see it.

Excellent idea. It will be a few days before I can post a picture.
