I have a freind that asked for help with a problem Dodge that I have no clue about. His 2000 6 litre needs to warm up for a long period or it has no power or change in rpm with pedal position change. From what I'm told it is happening now even after it warms up. ? ? any ideas of common issues here?

He should put a scan tool on it and check his throttle position sensor.

I think the key trick works on the 2000 trucks. Cycle the key on-off-on-off-on-off-on and any engine codes will display in the odometer. Beware of the "0216" code. Any hard starting or white smoke at startup? This sounds like a possible VP44 (injection pump)failure.
There is a way to reset the throttle position sensor (Dodge calls it Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, or APPS) its worth a try. Log on to www.dieseltruckresource.com for the procedure... its easy.

Sounds like he is starting to experience the dreaded "dead pedal." That's usually the death march for the Vp44 (Inj. pump) I'd get it scanned. You can try the key trick, off/on 3 times to see if any codes pop up, but that doesn't always show the codes. My 02 had a bad Vp and no codes flashed with the hey trick. I believe auto-zone, chiefs, kragens etc... will scan it for free.
